MDS Scrapbook Tip #2

When building your own custom page, be sure to use photo boxes!

Click on Photo Box to add to your page, and stretch it to the size you need, before you add the photo!

This helps prevent pixilating your photo, and it guarantees you don't lose your layout, if you happen to delete the photo!

I played with my MDS tonight and scrapped my son's 3rd birthday! All three pages come from sketches...The first comes from SCS... And these two came from Papercraft Planet...

MDS Scrapbook Tip #1

You may have noticed I make scrapbook pages in two sizes, and sometimes you see the same photos when I make a page for one child and another...and eventually myself! Here's a great tip if you have My Digital Studio, and a perk to consider if you are thinking of getting it!

Once you have made a page, you can insert it into any other project. As long as each project is the same size, you can take a page from Book A and add it to Book B, you can insert the page into a calendar (awesome Christmas present, btw!) and vice-versa! So, instead of recreating the wheel or duplicating something several times, just insert what you've already done!

Handy, huh?

Double Challenge!

WHOO! I got to play with two challenges the same day they were both posted, and I LOVE the result!

The Cinema Challenge was to make a card based on Becoming Jane, and use flowers and pearls. First of all, LOVE the movie! Really. We actually saw it in theaters! Its a sad kind of movie but I love the music, the story, all of it. I can even put up with the ridiculous aging at the end -I like it that much! tee hee! Love Jane Austen, love that time period, love it. And I think this quote works nicely.

I also used Jen's SSFYTT for the design of the card and here is what I came up with....

Supplies:
Stamps: Vintage Vogue, Fifth Avenue Floral
Ink: Chocolate Chip
Paper: Pink Pirouette card stock (returning!), Bella Birds DP (retired)
Accessories: White Taffeta Ribbon, Pretties Kit

Distressed Vintage

These are my favorite from my May Classes.
Take a look at your Summer Mini, pages 14-15 and you'll find pretty much my supply list! I LOVED those pages and everything on them! I changed up the green to blue, but I used the awesome Presto Patterns DP with the brayer, and the fun (but unpredictable and messy!) Smooch Spritz! The Mini Tags are really cute and I love how super easy it is to make a pretty, vintagey, distressed page!
Supplies: Stamps: Just Perfect Alphabet
Ink: Close to Cocoa
Paper: Bordering Blue & Close to Cocoa card stocks, Presto Patterns DP

Manly Mojo

Last night I made four cards and this is my favorite:

Supplies:

Stamps: Just Perfect Alphabet
Ink: Chocolate Chip
Paper: Tailor Made SS Kit, Sahara Sand card stock
Accessories: Linen Thread, Fresh Fav buttons

This is for my dad. I used Julee's Monday Mojo sketch and LOVE it. I had to stamp the words because the only Father's day greeting I own would be lost on that card... I love this Tailor Made Simply Scrappin' Kit and the nice colors in it. Very happy with this one! *grin*

Sentimental Journey!

This is my newest stamp set! We got to play with it in my May classes...take a look!
The pages use the collage stamping technique which is one of my favorites when I have a LOT of scrapping to do. Its adds color and a touch of something unique without being overwhelming.

The card also totally qualifies for the OCC Saturday Challenge- to make a masculine birthday card. This one is for my brother!
And, if you notice on the card...Sentimental Journey is one of the sets which if you buy during the month of May you can choose a set of designer brads for FREE! I got those neat star brads FREE. Yeay!

Spring trees...

A friend of mine asked me to make several cards, so here's one of them! I used this sketch from the OCC sketch blog...

Later I am going to stamp a greeting in Rose Red ink, beneath the stripey paper, but its not at my house. This is quite full of retired products, but still nice a springy card. It is not very springy here...it keeps trying to snow, and the 'breeze' has been pretty cold. Maybe if I keep pretending its warm with my paper crafting, the sun will remember to come out... haha!

Supplies:

Stamps: Good Neighbors
Ink: Certainly Celery, Rose Red
Paper: Certainly Celery, Whisper White card stocks, Cutie Pie DP (retired!)
Accessories: Fresh Fav buttons, Fairy Tale ribbon (retired!)

I realized I have some things in my file I haven't shared yet! So why the long time between posts...?

Here is a gift I put together for a friend of mine. She was in need of a fun birthday present, that allowed her to be creative in a short amount of time.

I started by thinking of re-stocking a Simply Sent kit. I changed up the colors to ones she likes best (Old Olive, Taken with Teal, Apricot Appeal, and some Very Vanilla card stock, and a Basic Black Stampin' Spot). I gathered some retired buttons and a strip of mini glue dots, and included the ribbon from the kit. Then I chose three retired stamp sets I thought she could get a lot of use out of.
I put it all in a bright pink gift bag and ta-da! a present!

Birds for Mother's day!

I realized just in the nick of time that I needed to make Mother's Day cards and get them in the mail!! So now that I am sure these have arrived, I can post them!

This first one uses this week's Mojo Monday sketch. When I saw the blocks on the sketch I thought of a paint chip card, so I have progressing shades of pink/red. This is a hostess set so its only available until the end of June. But I have had a lot of fun using it- especially these two images!

Supplies: Stamps: Of The Earth, Teeny Tiny Wishes Ink: Ruby Red, Real Red, Rose Red & Pretty in Pink

Paper: Rose Red, Chocolate Chip and Very Vanilla card stocks
Accessories: Word Window Punch, Eggcellent Eggs Kit rhinestones (newly retired)

This card uses last weeks Mojo Monday sketch! I began by looking for a way to use my new bird punch! It was on back-order until the mini was almost done, and I haven't had a chance to use it til now! You'll see it more anyway...! I think I saw Andrea use this particular color combination (Apricot bird touched up with Regal Rose ink) and that's how I had to start!

Supplies: Stamps: Teeny Tiny Wishes, Friendly Words jumbo wheel

Ink: Chocolate Chip, Regal Rose
Paper: Regal Rose, Certainly Celery, Chocolate Chip, Apricot Appeal & Whisper White card stocks
Accessories: Scallop Edge Punch, Bird Punch, Wide Oval Punch, Chocolate Chip Taffeta Ribbon

The end of my scrappy weekend...

I hope you got a chance to get a little scrapping done. After all, this past Saturday was National Scrapbook Day! I spent it at a booth for a craft fair...but I'm pretty sure I made up for it the weekend before, scrapping my little heart out! I wasn't able to participate with all of the challenges, but here is the rest of what I did get done...!
This page was for "A Minute to Win It" and it had a specific "recipe" of what to use on your page. I do apologize for the plethora of retired items on the page...but maybe it will inspire you to combine some random things in your craft space!

Now for the digital pages... I did three challenges with the My Digital Studio software!
First up, a page for "Dog The Bounty Hunter". We were supposed to scrap someone being caught in the act...how's this for a disaster caught on film? LOL.

this page was for "The Apprentice", and was a sketch challenge.

and finally, this was for "Rock of Love". What says hard rock like lullabies? LOL. We had a sketch to follow, plus we needed a music element. I thought a list of favorite bedtime songs, and a picture of us on a typical night was a good way to incorporate that.
