Scrapping Thanks!

It feels like its been forever since I've done any scrapbooking! But I found this sweet ribbon the other day at Target and wanted to scrap with it! (this is how you can hoard AND use- put it in scrapbooks that you intend to keep forever!) Fortunately (?) I am horribly behind on scrapbooks and have these Thanksgiving pictures from when my son was 1. How sad is that...? Ugh. Also while shopping, I saw a sticker package for new mothers. One sticker said "before I was a mom..." At the moment I thought "...I could shop in quiet!" and now I'm thinking, I kept up on my scrapbooks. However, I didn't have too many interesting things TO scrapbook, (and only one book to make!) so it didn't matter THAT much, did it? Thank heavens for my kids who keep me too busy to scrap their lives. hee hee! Anyway, here is my spread: (pretend they are side by side.....) Pretty basic layout, used a million times in my books. It was a fun Thanksgiving tho because my family all came down to our house! Burt loves to cook so we've done our own Thanksgiving twice. He always brings food to family Thanksgivings anyway and has done the turkey a few times. So! Thank heavens for my husband who loves to cook and is really, really good at it!!! Supplies: Stamps: Lovely As A Tree, Taffy ABC ~ Ink: Close to Cocoa, Old Olive ~ Paper: More Mustard, Old Olive, Very Vanilla card stocks ~ Accessories: Target Ribbon
Finally, I wanted to share this thought about "before I was a mom". It popped in my head as soon as I read the sticker mentioned above, and I spent a ridiculous amount of time looking for the email that contained it. Enjoy...!
Before I was a Mom I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby. I didn't worry whether or not my plants were poisonous. I never thought about immunizations. Before I was a Mom - I had never been puked on. Pooped on. Chewed on. Peed on. I had complete control of my mind and my thoughts. I slept all night. Before I was a Mom I never held down a screaming child so doctors could do tests. Or give shots. I never looked into teary eyes and cried. I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin. I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep. Before I was a Mom I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn't want to put it down. I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn't stop the hurt. I never knew that something so small could affect my life so much. I never knew that I could love someone so much. I never knew I would love being a Mom. Before I was a Mom - I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outside my body. I didn't know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby. I didn't know that bond between a mother and her child. I didn't know that something so small could make me feel so important and happy. Before I was a Mom - I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay. I had never known the warmth, The joy, The love, The heartache, The wonderment or the satisfaction of being a Mom. I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much before I was a Mom. And before I was a Grandma, I didn't know that all those "Mom" feelings more than doubled when you see that little bundle being held by "your baby"...

  2. I think we all needed a reminder of what being a mom is really all about. It's easy to forget when you get caught up in the day to day stuff. The thanksgiving pages were so cute! I am getting excited for turkey day!
