One Sketch, Two Birthdays!

Happy Monday! I have two cards for you today!

I needed to make some birthday cards and liked the freedom from this sketch on Inspire.Create.Challenges.

First I made this bright card. I had seen this Forever Lovely used as poppies from fellow demonstrator, Nicole Chevallier, (no idea how to link from facebook. Help!) but I hadn't tried it out yet. All it takes is making it a more solid flower by coloring your stamped image in with a blender pen. So easy! I went with pink because I used the color challenge from TGIF Challenges.
Supplies:
Stamps: Forever Lovely, Very Versailles
Ink: Melon Mambo, Pool Party, Smoky Slate Marker, Dark Basic Black Stampin' Blend
Paper: Melon Mambo, Pool Party, Whisper White card stocks
Accessories: Blender Pen

Then I made this softer card. I used the inspiration challenge from Just Add Ink for a beachy sunset. It's not my favorite "sunset" because I used a blender pen. It would be smoother with an Aquapainter, or sponges, but it works just fine for this card.
Supplies:
Stamps: Friend Like You
Ink: Memento Black, Blushing Bride, Rococo Rose
Paper: Rococo Rose, Basic Black, Whisper White card stocks
Accessories: Blender Pen

If I hadn't used a blender pen on both cards, these would totally qualify for #simplestamping. And I like that, because sometimes there just isn't a lot of crafty time! haha...

We Create Blog Hop: Have a Heart

Good afternoon! It's a new month and that means a fun new blog hop! With Valentine's Day right around the corner, today's hop is all about love!
My card is pretty simple, but I'm really happy with it. In fact, if you took off the little droplets, it totally qualifies for #simplestamping! But I like the droplets so I kept them, haha!
Supplies:
Stamps: Forever Lovely
Ink: Flirty Flamingo, Real Red & Memento Black
Paper: Whisper White & Basic Black card stocks
Accessories: Frosted Epoxy Droplets

My card fits three current challenges, which was a big help trying to get back in to stamping after being sick. I used the color challenge from Global Design Project, the SC784 sketch from Splitcoaststampers.com and since I used flowers, I'm putting it with the SUO Floral Challenge! AND! This card is definitely going to be part of my upcoming class!

Now, hop on over to Libby's blog and then hop on thru the whole group to see what we've created for you today! Leave us your thoughts- we all enjoy feedback!

Quick and Cute!

Today I decided to take some stamping time and put this card together. This will definitely be part of my next class- it was so quick to make and it's really cute!
The color combo came from the latest Global Design Project challenge, and the sketch came from Fab Friday!
Supplies:
Stamps: Forever Lovely
Ink: Rococo Rose, Mint Macaron, So Saffron
Paper: So Saffron, Whisper White & Mint Macaron card stocks
Accessories: Rococo Rose Scalloped Linen Ribbon, Glue Dots

And then, I have a quick tip to share. I know occasionally with brand new rubber stamps, especially with a large solid area, sometimes won't stamp clearly. The ink sort of beads up on the rubber, rather than covering the whole image. I haven't had that issue with the photopolymer stamps at all, until today. The flowers didn't seem very clear, and then the leafy image, even tho I used markers the first try, didn't come out well at all! Hmm. The solution? Scrub it across your jeans, or even the palm of your hands. Then clean it to make sure there isn't lint (or hand oils) and ink it up again. Then it came out great!

Scrapping Homecoming!

Now here's something crazy...I made a scrapbook layout, and everything but the title stamps and ink are current! Even the photos are not a whole year old yet!
The colors came from some pretty DP I wanted to use, but then I realized these stamp sets fit so nicely...and then I forgot all about using the DP! So there's a random dash of Fresh Fig (retired!) ink with the title, but it worked in my head... haha!
Supplies:
Stamps: Very Versailles, Forever Lovely, Whimsical Alphabet Upper (retired)
Ink: Pear Pizazz, Petal Pink, Sahara Sand, & Fresh Fig (retired)
Paper: Mossy Meadow, Pear Pizazz, Petal Pink
Accessories: Scalloped Lace Trim, Pearls, Glue Dots

Here's a close up of the stamped accent panel. I don't know why everything seems a bit blurry...I haven't had a camera problem before, tho pages are tricky to photograph.
And the journaling strip. I just need him to help me out with a few of the names, and a couple details I have forgotten.
I'm excited I've gotten some scrapping done and I really hope to continue with that!! What are you working on?
