Cards for a Kid

When I first started with Stampin' Up! my oldest was not yet one. Back when we had "classic ink pads" that were stacks of linen, and the stamps were on wood blocks, I let my little kids stamp. They made cards for grandparents and each other and sometimes friends... And then about the time we switched to the rubber with the labels that didn't stick to the stamp or the block, they lost interest. That was fine with me. I felt like it was more tricky with the clear mount stamps and switching them out onto clear blocks and keeping track of them all.

This means I have really not let my youngest ever stamp! Even tho when she was born, the stamps were much more tacky and less inclined to fall off and away, ha. I don't remember if she started asking for a personal card class last summer or if it was during the school year, but! Today was the day!! She has pulled out stacks of "favorite ink colors" a handful of times, so today I told her to choose ten colors. I got the card stocks for them and we dragged it all to the kitchen table. I did ask what kind of cards she wanted to make, and she wanted to keep them for herself, so we did card fronts (with her approval), and I made them up on the fly! ha!

First she wanted to use butterflies. This retired set is on wood blocks. We used the matching inks with the card stock, which she was amazed was a thing, haha. Her card is shown first on this set, and she wanted to add the sunshine behind the strips.
Supplies:
Stamps: Kinda Eclectic (retired)
Ink: Tahitain Tide (retired), Gorgeous Grape, Bubble Bath, Cucumber Crush (retired)
Paper: Basic White, Tahitain Tide (retired), Gorgeous Grape, Bubble Bath card stocks

This one I thought we'd tear some card stock for the top, and I probably will for mine, (the second one) but she loved this layered look. At first she thought it was going to be "way too complicated" but she was pleasantly surprised.
Supplies:
Stamps: March 2024 Paper Pumpkin bonus stamp
Ink: Memento Black, Melon Mambo, Sweet Sorbet (retired), Emerald Envy (retired), Daffodil Delight
Paper: Basic White card stock

Finally, I suggested this new-to-me set because I thought she'd enjoy the rainbows. She definitely did, and she said that "even tho rainbows don't have brown, Cinnamon Cider just needed to go with this!" So it did! This time hers is the second card...
The other thing that made me laugh is that this girl is all about texture in most aspects of her life. You should have seen the side eye she gave when I showed her how to tear the edge. And then I had the nerve to just leave it torn?! Ugh. She "likes her art to be neat." hahaha!
Supplies:
Stamps: Happiest Day
Ink: Cinnamon Cider, Melon Mambo, Bubble Bath, Daffodil Delight
Paper: Basic White, Daffodil Delight card stocks

And the very proud little card maker!
We just might do this another hot summer day...!

Fall Scrapbooking

I'm interrupting the Thank You cards to share a little more of the scrapbooking I did the last little while for this same kid. haha... Altho actually this one took a little turn.

It was one of those days where I lay out several ideas and get to what I get to. And this was one I didn't get to... So when I went back to it I forgot what I was going to do and tried to just play with the newest In Colors and see how it went.
Supplies:
Stamps: Alphabest, Painted Seasons (SAB retired)
Ink: Pebbled Path, Copper Clay, Pumpkin Pie, Tahitian Tide
Paper: Petals & Paisley's DP, Copper Clay & Very Vanilla card stocks
Accessories: Copper Cord

And I really like how it ended up- look how fun that is!

The problem was...I realized those colors were waaay more "for my son" than my daughter. And I also realized I had not yet scrapped it for him. Soo he got the first set and I made a second set for her! ha!
Supplies:
Stamps: Kinda Eclectic
Ink: Boho Blue, Moody Mauve, Wild Wheat, Copper Clay
Paper: Very Vanilla card stock
Accessories: 2023 In Color Dots

Giant Ferris Wheel

Today I have another of our Disney pages for you. This one ended up a really fun layout, and I'm pretty sure that's because I scrap-lifted someone else's layout, haha! You can see that inspiration HERE.

Almost every ride we did in Disney, we alllll did together. And we hit almost every single ride! But this ferris wheel is just too high for a couple of us, lol. My youngest really, really wanted to go on it, and worse than that, haha, she wanted a swinging cart! (that's them in the center of each of the first three photos) Fortunately she has a good daddy who is not afraid of heights who was happy to join her. And it did make for some fun photos. He even got a video of her singing her heart out enjoying the view!

Supplies:
Stamps: Kinda Eclectic (retired!), Alphabet Appeal Lower (retired!)
Ink: Gorgeous Grape, Bermuda Bay
Paper: Gorgeous Grape, Bumblebee (retired!), Whisper White card stocks
Accessories: Glimmer Brads (retired!), Bermuda Bay Stitched Ribbon (retired!)
Journaling Font: Parade

Blog Hop: Stepped over

And another month has flown on by...! But this time I got a tiny bit of stamp time in, and I even blogged more than once. But just barely more than once...!

Today's projects are pretty quick but they're cute! I used the Mojo Monday sketch from last week for the design.
I wanted to play with my soon-to-be-retired things, but I also discovered I have an extremely empty display board. I do have people interested in events, which means I'm going to have to get prepared for them- and that includes having a full display board. So!
Here is my card using retiring stuff.... the stamps, the card stock and the ribbon are all but gone!
Supplies:
Stamps: Kinda Eclectic
Ink: Delightful Dijon, Mint Macaron, Tip Top Taupe, Watermelon Wonder
Paper: Top Top Taupe, Watermelon Wonder, Very Vanilla card stocks
Accessories: Watermelon Wonder striped ribbon, Dimensionals

And here is my card for my display board, using all things that are sticking around another catalog year!
Supplies:
Stamps: Work of Art
Ink: So Saffron, Pear Pizazz, Melon Mambo, Memento Black
Paper: So Saffron, Pear Pizazz, Very Vanilla card stocks

I made a collage for each, and used some fun, spring colors, (sort of similar colors too!) even tho the day I stamped them we had hail and rain and two streets up from me had snowy roofs...!

Anyway, it was fun to stamp and I told my family I need to do that at least once a week, haha. We'll see how well that goes...and I wouldn't hold my breath, ha.
Now, hop along to Cheryl's blog and see what she's made for your stampy inspiration. Leave us your thoughts too- we all love hearing what you think of our work!
Then, take a half hour to yourself this coming week and see what YOU can create too!

A spider experiment!

I gotta say- experimenting with cards is not actually my favorite thing...but I keep doing it! This time, I had seen a really clever Halloween card idea on Pinterest and wanted to recreate it with all current supplies that I already had.

I started by figuring out how to do the spider web. The original creation used a silver ink pad and marker. I don't have either. I thought I'd do a white web. This took a few tries...
First I stamped the sunburst with Versamark, and added webbing with my Versamarker, and then did white heat embossing to make it stand out.
Then I realized my webbing was turned the wrong direction, and, I'd forgotten to attach it on the outside edges...haha....
So my second try was done correctly, but differently. This time I embossed the sunburst stamp, but I added webbing with the white chalk marker. It takes a little bit of time to show up well, but this is as dark as it got. Hmm....
Finally I got the web the way I liked it, but that'll show up at the end. :)

Next I made my spider legs by using my oval punch, which is exactly how the original card was made too. I took a picture just in case it isn't clear to you how to punch thin slices of card stock.
And then, I don't have any googly eyes, so I used my Versamarker again and drew a smiley face on the spider to make him friendly, not scary, haha! But THEN I found out we no longer carry the Versamarker! So before my class, I'll buy some googly eyes and we'll use those instead. haha...

But here's my finished product, and I used the latest TGIF Challenge for the sketch.
Supplies:
Stamps: Kinda Eclectic, Happy Scenes
Ink: Versamark, Memento Black, Versamarker
Paper: Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive, Blackberry Bliss, Basic Black card stocks
Accessories: 1 inch circle punch, Wide Oval punch, White Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, Dimensionals

Stamps-Ink-Paper!

As I mentioned, my workshop was geared for beginners. I wanted to show how you could make several different cards using just one stamp set, along with a few inks, a Neutrals package of card stock and one colored package of card stock- in this case, Rich Razzleberry. This is the creation:
Supplies:
Stamps: Kinda Eclectic
Ink: Rich Razzleberry, Mossy Meadow, Crushed Curry, Crumb Cake
Paper: Crumb Cake, Rich Razzleberry, Very Vanilla

Then I showed other cards made with the same stamp set, to show that you can create a different "feeling" just by changing up the colors. (scroll down the side bar on the right til you see "find my stamps" then choose Kinda Eclectic to see how I have used this set, or really, any of them!)
Yes, absolutely, ribbons and buttons add to the card. Using the Big Shot adds to the card. But sometimes, a simple card is just as beautiful. And when you're just getting started, its nice to know that you can make something pretty without buying everything all at once. *grin
Of course I had to show off my favorite free technique- tearing the edge of the paper! It adds just a bit of texture and interest and is only the cost of 'wasting' a tiny bit of paper!

In Color Kindness

Oh look- a title that doesn't include the word "autumn", hahaha.... But autumn has definitely arrived here now! Wasn't I just complaining about the heat? Yesterday made up for it! I got to wear a cozy sweatshirt all day and my house got down to a pleasantly chilly 68* before I closed windows, haha! The leaves on the mountains started turning firey reds and oranges about a week ago and yesterday's storms brought snow to some of our mountains!! Alrighty then...!

Anyway, back to the stamping... The newest In Colors seem to blend summer and fall and this card does too I think....the hot summery colors with the richer autumny colors, and I like how it worked out. The butterflies are punched out and popped up on Dimensionals, and the wings were curled in a bit too. I started to use the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches, but I stretched the rectangles...and then left off the narrow front strip anyway! But I'll link it up since that was my inspiration...
Supplies:
Stamps: Kinda Eclectic
Ink: Tip Top Taupe, Watermelon Wonder, Mint Macaron, Delightful Dijon
Paper: Watermelon Wonder, In Color Envelope Paper
Accessories: Itty Bitty Butterfly Punch, Dimensionals

Kindness

So apparently I am not yet done with butterfly season, haha! But this card uses more hot-late-August colors I think so it works for today!
I needed to send an overdue thank you, so I used the Nacho Average Challenge sketch for the layout. I seriously love this set, and I kept the card really quite simple!
Supplies:
Stamps: Kinda Eclectic
Ink: Delightful Dijon, Blackberry Bliss, Wild Wasabi, Cajun Craze
Paper: Whisper White, Delightful Dijon, Blackberry Bliss card stocks
Accessories: White Bakers Twine

And have a great weekend!!!

Blog Hop: It's SUMMER!

Oh my goodness HOW is it July already?? I have no idea other than...it IS hot enough.....but wow, this summer is flying past! And since it's a new month, it's time for a new blog hop!!
This time we chose the theme of SUMMER, which really, all of my posts the last week or so feel like summer...and I keep mentioning that it really is HOT, haha! So let's continue that theme!

This card uses some bright, summer shades, a splash of watery blue and a good dirty brown shade! (actually, I got the color combo from the Nacho Average Challenge blog, but I thought it totally fit the summer theme!) I have never used this big butterfly before, so that was fun. Also stamping on the DP is a really fun thing for me, kinda takes 'coloring outside the lines' to a whole new level to color on the lines! haha!
This card proved nearly impossible to capture with a camera so you get several shots to see the details!
Supplies:
Stamps: Six Sided Sampler, Gorgeous Grunge
Ink: Bermuda Bay, Tip Top Taupe
Paper: Watermelon Wonder card stock, In Color Envelope Paper
Accessories: In Color Blossom Accents, Butterflys Thinlits, Big Shot, Hexagon Punch (flagged end), Glue Dots

And this second card uses the latest sketch from Mojo Monday. This time the color scheme is much cooler. And apparently I think of butterflies when I think of summer because um........
Supplies:
Stamps: Kinda Eclectic
Ink: Old Olive, Daffodil Delight, Tip Top Taupe, Soft Sky
Paper: Old Olive, Soft Sky & Whisper White card stock, In Color Envelope Paper
Accessories: Subtles Candy Dots, Bitty Butterfly Punch, Dimensionals

Also, can I just mention the In Color Envelope Paper that I used on both cards? It's thinner than our other DP, which means you don't add weight or bulk to your creations, but you still get the fun prints! And at only $6.00 a package, it's a steal!

Now, go check out Cheryl's blog and hop all the way thru to see some awesome SUMMER inspiration!! And leave us your thoughts- we all love comments! *grin

Sunshine!

And now we switch gears as I start making cards with current products to fill up my board! haha! When I saw this week's Nacho Average Challenge, I knew exactly what large sentiment I had on hand to use, and then I realized I also had the perfect companion set! The card is super simple but I am really happy with how it turned out!
Now all I have to do is decide if this is going to be an end-of-year teacher thank you, or if it will be on my board after all! haha!
Supplies:
Stamps: Kinda Eclectic, Feel Goods
Ink: Memento Black*, Daffodil Delight
Paper: Whisper White, Daffodil Delight
Accessories: Itty Bitty Butterfly punch, Dimensionals

*Did you notice the Basic Black ink pad is retiring? It has color issues....my mom's has been purple'y for ages, even after using the refills... The new catalog only has Memento Black ink, which I have been loving! Such a great, consistent shade of black!

And with that, I'm off! I hope you have a great weekend!

Kindness

Happy Monday to you once again! I hope your weekend was relaxing! Ours ended up fairly low-key thanks to a whole lot of much-needed rain!

Today's card uses last week's Retro Sketch. I seriously love the look of stamping on wood DP! I was going to do some kind of flowers, but the Kinda Eclectic set really wanted to be used, and who am I to disagree? haha... Especially when the results are so pretty!! The banners are slightly askew because I didn't want the Eggplant "mat" to be the next size up, but I still wanted it to show. And the fun butterflies are all popped up on Dimensionals!
Supplies:
Stamps: Kinda Eclectic
Ink: Crushed Curry, Elegant Eggplant, Wild Wasabi
Paper: Crushed Curry, Smoky Slate, Elegant Eggplant, Very Vanilla card stock, Adventure Bound DP
Accessories: Big Shot, Banner Framelits, Itty Bitty Butterfly Punch, Dimensionals

Kindness

This is a stamp set that has been high on my wish list since the catalog came out, (there is a LOT on that list!) but first I got to play with it (and the butterfly punch!) last week! Whoo hoo! I stuck with the newest In Colors and loosely based it on Retro Sketch 126, and I LOVE how it turned out!
Also, this thought keeps running thru my head....a long time ago I got it as a fridge magnet from church, but it said "a little kindness goes a long way...gossip the good and make someone's day!"
Supplies:
Stamps: Kinda Eclectic
Ink: Blackberry Bliss, Lost Lagoon, Hello Honey, Mossy Meadow
Paper: Blackberry Bliss, Whisper White
Accessories: Hexagon Punch, Elegant Butterfly Punch, Dimensionals
