Mom's Creepy Cards

Happy Halloween!!! Busy day around here, how about yourself?

I did not make any of these cards! While I was making flowery cards (see Sunday's post), my mom was doing Halloween. She sends them to her grandkids (and us kids!) her parents and an aunt of hers that loves holidays, and I think she made some for friends too. My mom really likes Halloween- the cutsy side, of course. So here are just *some* of the cards that she made....

(thanks Mom!)

(Supplies are all Stampin' Up! except the black dotty ribbon which came from Target)

Green & Burgundy

That has to mean a Christmas card, right? Well, since it was the Whiff of Joy Challenge this week, I had to use the only image I have...and it works! You give/get plates of cookies for Christmas, right? That's one of the best things! LOL! So here is my green & burgundy card! Supplies: Stamps: Warmest Regards (retired), Willow With Cookies (whiff of Joy) Ink: Black, Versamark Paper: Bravo Burgundy, Old Olive, White Accessories: Scallop Edge Punch, EE Brads, White Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, Blender Pens & Watercolor Wonder Crayons, misc ribbon

Thankful Thursdays

I have a lot to be thankful for this week! (it's been a really long week!)

I am thankful that even tho my husband's job can be a pain, he was able to take Monday off.

I am thankful that my son has confidence in all of his creations. :) Here is his entry for the PTA Reflections Contest. (And yes, I have an issue with the fact that the kids are REQUIRED to participate.)

I am thankful that my daughter is a good little nurse to her mama.

I am thankful that one friend brought dinner and one friend brought dessert, just because. (Yes, yes, you're both good cooks!)

I am thankful that yoga is twice a week so I can work off the aches and pains from earlier! LOL!

Catching up?

This card combines Jen's Saturday Sketch to Try with Beate's Inspiration Challenge! Hooray! Actually, the squares are a little off from Jen's sketch. I laid them out right, but then took off the vanilla square to stamp on it and it ended up crooked...so I fiddled with the squares some more to make them work with how the greeting was! The colors all come from the Insp. piece. -- funny that two days in a row I used Brocade Blue and black gingham from Beate's challenges!

Supplies: Stamps: Boho Backgrounds, Upsy Daisy Ink: Brocade Blue Paper: Kraft, Brocade Blue, Kiwi Kiss & Very Vanilla card stocks Accessories: Black Gingham Ribbon, Neutrals Buttons, 1 3/8 inch circle punch

My second card follows Julee's Mojo Monday sketch. The main image is another Wish-RAK, this is a Sarah Kay stamp. Sweet, huh? I don't know if the blue "goes" but I thought I'd try it...

Supplies: Stamps: A Kiss for Chloe (Sarah Kay) Ink: black, So Saffron, Chocolate Chip Paper: Chocolate Chip, So Saffron, Spring Showers DP (retired) Accessories: Watercolor Wonder Crayons, Blender Pens, Hodgepodge Hardware (retired), Chocolate grosgrain ribbon

Tuesday Afternoon!

I know, can you believe it? Well, it was a non-stamping weekend (except what I already showed Sunday) and then I had a super-migraine yesterday so I didn't get anything done then either. Sooo after going to yoga and running a bunch of errands this morning I threw these two cards together!

First I have this card, based on Beate's Weekend Sketch. It doesn't follow the sketch exactly, but hey...

Supplies:

Stamps: Happiness is a Journey Ink: Versamark Paper: Brocade Blue, Basic Black Accessories: Black Gingham ribbon, Fresh Favorite buttons, Black embossing powder, Heat Tool

Then this follows Taylor's Friday Cupcake sketch!

Supplies:

Stamps: Priceless Ink: Barely Banana, Orchid Opulence Paper: Orchid Opulence, Barely Banana, Whisper White card stocks Accessories: 1 3/8 circle punch, Orchid Ribbon (retired), Yoyo Yellow Ribbon (retired)

Sundays!

Have I mentioned how blessed I am to have a husband who is a great cook and loves to cook?! Well, I AM! I was telling him about our nephew's family trying a new meal every Sunday and he was all over that plan! (we're hoping it helps expand our children's eating interests.) So last Sunday was something new for the kids and mommy - corned beef & cabbage, with carrots and mashed potatoes! Check it out:
Personally, not a cabbage fan. So it was fiiiine with me that I was allergic to it, even tho it was slightly cooked. The carrots and potatoes were great, and the corned beef wasn't bad. It was actually good, but something I got tired of quickly. It was like juicy jerky. Very salty, but not in a bad way. The kids liked the meat and the potatoes...hee hee. Cabbage was nobody's favorite, even tho Burt does like cooked cabbage. All in all, I think we could have it again, just not this month. *wink*
Enjoy your Sunday!

A few challenges!

*card* challenges of course!

First I have Beate's Inspiration Challenge #28. The room itself kind of had me stumped so I took the colors and just made a card around that. I wanted the black/white to be striking and I think it is.

Supplies: Stamps: Fresh Cuts Ink: Versamark, Basic Black Paper: Really Rust & Whisper White card stocks Accessories: Black Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, So Saffron Poly-twill ribbon, Neutral Buttons, Linen Thread

Then, here is my card for the Whiff of Joy Weekly Challenge. This week its a sketch, which is of course the only reason that many layers made it on my card! LOL! I love the look when people can add a bunch of layers but I seem to have a hard time doing that "right". hee hee... However, I am very happy with this card, so I guess it works when someone tells me where to put things!

Here's a bit of a close up shot. I love this ribbon, and the punched flowers turned out cute too!

Supplies: Stamps: Willow With Cookies, To You & Yours Ink: Black, Perfect Plum Paper: Perfect Plum, Old Olive, So Saffron, Whisper White card stocks, Saffron Prints DP Accessories: Watercolor Wonder Crayons, Blender Pens, Scallop Edge Punch, Word Window Punch, EE Brads, cherry blossom punch & ribbon

New Stamps in Navy

Tonight I played with the last of my new stamp sets: To You & Yours. I think this is a fabulous holiday set! I was experimenting with ideas for my upcoming Christmas Card class. I had plans in my head but when it comes to a class, its always good to try them out first! LOL! This first card actually follows Lauren's Saturday sketch and I thought it worked well for these pieces.

The only difference in supplies between these two cards is the first uses the Wide Oval Punch for the focal point, and I did a little paper piercing in the corners.

Supplies: Stamps: To You & Yours Ink: Night of Navy, Whisper White Craft Paper: Whisper White & Night of Navy card stock Accessories: White Taffeta Ribbon

needed to share...

While doing my "regular" blog hopping (that I've actually missed out on teh last few days) I came across a post on Melanie's blog. Of course I followed the links and now that I'm suffieciently teary, I needed to share it with you too.

ok...linking her post didn't work, go here and scroll down til you see the post titled "Grace Under Pressure" and read on. Click on the links for the families blogs and stories. She's shared an address, do what you can.

And then, I think this is a good time for a prayer of thanks. (Was that talk by Elder Bednar too? I know the Tender Mercies talk was.) A prayer thanking God for all that you are blessed with. I know that we all have struggles, some worse than others, but sometimes they pale in comparison.

Christmas and classes

First, the news! I have finally scheduled a local Christmas card class! It will be at my house, Friday, November 7th, from 6:30 pm til you're done! We're going to make 5 card designs and you'll take home 5 of each design. They will be slightly different from the cards in *this post* but that gives you an idea...also, we'll do a variation of the navy card found below. The RSVP and $15 fee are absolutely required by October 29th. I will have to place the order for any extra supplies that night. Thanks! (remember, if you can't come, for $20 you can have me make these cards for you)

ETA: If there is enough interest I may also offer this class Friday morning, from say, 10am til you're done. Please let me know if you like this option.

Also, Natalie has some fun blog candy HERE, and Rachel has a great one HERE. They both have really cute stuff on their blogs too so be sure and take a look!

Now, another holiday card. We won't be making exactly this one at the class, but we may use the set again. This card mixes current with old! hee hee...

Supplies: Stamps: Big on Christmas, Holiday Tag Team(retired) Ink: Basic Black, Green Galore Paper: Green Galore, Real Red, Whisper White card stocks Accessories: Blender Pens, BB Buttons

Quick Post

...because this is the only stamped item I got done this weekend, and because I have a busy day today...and because my computer is not cooperating...!

This card follows the OCC sketch for the week. The snowy, lighthouse stamp is another Wish-RAK and I went with a holiday card because I read on another stampers blog their count of holiday cards and realized I don't even have enough for one side of the family...!

Supplies: Stamps: Warmest Regards (retired), Unknown lighthouse Ink: Night of Navy, Cranberry Crisp & Barely Banana Paper: Pacific Point, Whisper White card stocks Accessories: Blender Pens, Stamping Sponge, Watercolor Pencils, Cranberry Stitched ribbon (retired)

More sketches!

We'll start with Julee's Mojo Monday sketch, since you'll be seeing this on a Saturday...! I had a circle piece I'd already cut out that ended up too big for another card, and I had this Saffron Upsy Daisy image already stamped and then I'd changed my mind and used another color, so this was kind of like using scraps! I chose this lovely and old paper for the base to add some texture, and since I used my retired paper, I picked some retired accessories!

Supplies: Stamps: Upsy Daisy Ink: So Saffron, Chocolate Chip Paper: Sahara Sand, Whisper White card stocks, Spring Showers DP (retired) Accessories: Pewter Hodgepodge Hardware (retired), White grosgrain ribbon

Then this second card uses Beate's Weekend Sketch. My card is a 6x6 piece folded in half. I went pretty simple here, but I really like it.

Supplies: Stamps: Pocket Silhouettes Ink: Tangerine Tango, Chocolate Chip Paper: Tangerine Tango, Chocolate Chip, Very Vanilla card stocks Accessories: EE/N Buttons, Linen Thread

And now we're off for some family fun!

Oooo purty...!

Can I say that about my own creation? Why yes, I believe I can...! LOL! Because these, I love!

So up first, a fabulous design using a set a little out-of-the-box! Think: Polar Express! This uses my new Happiness Is A Journey set (for the train, of course!) embossed in my new white embossing powder, on my new Basic Gray card stock, tied with my new White taffeta ribbon, and a greeting stamped with my new White craft ink pad! Didn't I tell you I got lots of fun stuff?!

Supplies: Stamps: Happiness Is A Journey, Holidays & Wishes Ink: Versamark, Whisper White Craft Paper: Basic Gray, Whisper White & Bravo Burgundy card stocks Accessories: White Taffeta Ribbon, White Embossing Powder, Heat Tool

And next we have a card using elements I have been dying to put together since I saw the catalog! This gorgeous paper (Parisian Summer) with the lovely (and SOFT!) So Saffron Poly-twill wide ribbon, and this super sweet Pocket Silhouettes stamp!!! LOVE IT!

Supplies: Stamps: Pocket Silhouettes Ink: Bravo Burgundy & Basic Gray Paper: Bravo Burgundy & So Saffron card stocks, Parisian Summer DP Accessories: Saffron Poly-twill ribbon, Clear Button, Linen Thread

New toys!

and a lot of mustard... More Mustard, that is...

Are ya sick of Upsy Daisy? Well worry no more...I got a box full of new stuff yesterday! 4 new stamp sets, a new wheel, 4 new DP's and more tools and fun! I am sooo excited!!! So here is my first card using new "stuffses"! (a favorite word of Sienna's)

This first card was meant to look like the card on pg 4 of the Spanish Catalog supplement. However I discovered, they used textured card stock for a reason, used a narrower card for a reason, and have bigger chunks of paper, where I used the Tag Punch. But that's ok, this is still a nice card! I'll just try again with the design later. hee hee!

Supplies:
Stamps: Pocket Silhouettes
Ink: Pumpkin Pie, Ruby Red, Old Olive & Close to Cocoa
Paper: More Mustard, So Saffron
Accessories: Old Olive wide Grosgrain ribbon, EE/N buttons, EE brads, Tag Punch

And here is a card that uses some new stuff, some old...ok that went weird, something *technically* borrowed and some blue! haha!!! Ok, its late, can ya tell? (writing up the post the night before) ANYWAY! This is another adorable Wish-RAK image, AND its from that company (Whiff of Joy) I was trying for a spot on the design team! So of course I had to play with this right away. I colored her before my supplies arrived, so I didn't realize how well she goes with this new Autumn Vine DP (from the Holiday Mini), but it works great! AND it worked for the Whiff of Joy weekly challenge which is to use Autumn Colors. You got it! LOL!

Supplies:
Stamps: Pocket Silhouettes, Willow With Cookies (Whiff of Joy)
Ink: Black, Chocolate Chip, So Saffron
Paper: White, Bordering Blue & More Mustard card stock, Autumn Vine DP
Accessories: Pewter Hodgepodge Hardware, Mustard grosgrain ribbon, 1 3.8 inch circle punch, Watercolor Wonder Crayons, Blender Pen, Stamping Sponge

A lot of coloring...

This one is kinda late for Beate's weekend sketch, but I didn't get to even try it til last night. It turned out ok. Its for a friend of mine and I'm sure I've used this stamp for most of my friends by now... hee hee. I picked the background paper first but I didn't color the image to match too closely. I'm not sure if that's good or bad, LOL!

Supplies: Stamps: Time With You(retired), Fresh Cuts Ink: Basic Gray, Certainly Celery Paper: Whisper White card stock, Just Delightful SS Kit (retired!) Accessories: White Grosgrain Ribbon, 1 3/8 inch circle punch, Stamping Sponge, Watercolor Wonder Crayons & Blender Pens

This second card uses an unknown-to-me stamp. It comes from another RAK. I asked for lighthouse images (LOVE lighthouses!!!) and a very kind person sent me seven different ones! I thought this one worked very well for my brother, even tho he won't get it for about another month...! I used Watercolor Pencils first, then went over that with a Blender Pen. Then to fill in the edges, I sponged ink. I am still surprised how well it all "matched"!

Supplies: Stamp: Unknown Ink: Night of Navy, Barely Banana, Baja Breeze, So Saffron, Creamy Caramel Paper: Brocade Blue, Night of Navy & Whisper White card stocks Accessories: Watercolor Pencils, Blender Pen, Stamping Sponges, Red Grosgrain Ribbon

Three for Ten!

This week, Lauren posted three cards she made in 5 minutes (each). She suggested giving it a try. I think she said something about using the same supplies, or at least the same stamp set. I know you've seen plenty of Upsy Daisy on my blog already, but you're just gonna have to keep enjoying it til next week when more things arrive! hahaha!

So! here are three cards that us the same stamp set, the two with DP come from the same pkg but they all "feel" differently! :)

Card #1: A soft, monochromatic, "thinking of you" kind of card...

Supplies: Stamps: Upsy Daisy Ink: Mellow Moss, Always Artichoke Paper: Whisper White & Mellow Moss card stock, Sarah DP Accessories: Fresh Fav Buttons

Card #2: A bright, autumny, thank you card!

Supplies: Stamps: Upsy Daisy Ink: More Mustard Paper: More Mustard, Old Olive & Barely Banana card stocks Accessories: Old Olive wide grosgrain ribbon, Clear Buttons, Linen Thread

Card #3: A sweet, blank card for any occasion!

Supplies: Stamps: Upsy Daisy Ink: Brocade Blue Paper: Whisper White, Brocade Blue card stocks, Sarah DP Accessories: Soft Subtles Brads

I'm really sorry the pictures are so dark... during stormy weather, you get what you get! I probably got all three cards done in ten minutes combined, but I don't know for sure becuase I was also helping with homework and running up and down the stairs for supplies I forgot. I kept them all super simple, but I think they're all pretty cute. What can you create in ten minutes?
