Today was my card class! Here is one of the projects we made - all of the daisies are embossed! I think its appropriate for an orange or autumn wedding or shower gift, a birthday, or anything else a person may send a card for! It was inspired by the CAS sketch last week.
Also, both the Fifth Avenue Floral stamp set (flower) and the Sincere Salutations (words) are retiring soon! If you love them, order them soon!!!

Sale-A-Bration Once Again!

I can't say I care if you're tired of this stamp and DP, LOL, because I really love the combination and can't seem to get enough of it! For this card I used the Stamping 411 sketch #235. I love how fresh and springy these colors are! And I liked flipping the flowery image upside down like this! I do think I may need new words tho, simply because I am bored with the ones I own....hmm....
Supplies:
Stamps: Fresh Vintage, Sincere Salutations
Ink: Calypso Coral, Lucky Limeade, Pool Party markers
Paper: Whisper White & Pool Party card stock, Everyday Enchantment DP
Accessories: Whisper White Taffeta Ribbon, Designer Label Punch

A class that's perfect for anyone!

Here are 12 cards I will be offering at at class in August. I used almost half of the Playful Polka Dots Simply Scrappin' Kit (found on page 15 of the Summer Mini!) to make them all. These are such fun, summery cards, perfect for any occasion!

If you attend, or host this class I will provide five word sets and 4 coordinating ink colors for you to use as you like. However, if you live far away, you can still participate! I can prep the cards, give detailed instructions with photos, and mail it to you as a kit. All you need are word stamps and ink! I can suggest a word set to purchase, and even just one coordinating ink will work, if you'd like to place a small order!

The price of the class is only $12, and you get to keep what is left on the sticker sheets! If you are participating long distance, I will charge you for shipping, but you can do it any time you like!

World Card Making Day!

Oh yes, that is today! Are you doing anything exciting to celebrate? I am! This evening I am holding a Card Buffet! Never heard of that? It means I put out kits of cards (usually left overs from workshop make & takes or card class extras, and you come make which ever ones you like, as many as you like for a set price each. You're here as long as you need to do the cards you want and that's it! Once each kit is gone, its gone, so its the kind of thing you don't want to be late to. Which means, if you're local, be here at 6pm! We'll have it wrapped up at 8 so that everyone can be home for bedtime and there will be yummy treats too!

Here is a sampling of a few super quick cards we did last Saturday, and the extras will be available tonight!

Christmas Card Class

Yep, its a liiiittle early for a Christmas Card class, but this is for church, what can I say? I have designed and and am teaching a bundle of five Christmas cards. What do you think? This one is my favorite. I adore these silhouette images. So perfect for the holidays! (yes I KNOW the ribbon and the DP on the red card are retired....but I'm clearing out my stash)

So, that exchange student scrapbook? I ended up with 63 pages. about 1/3 of them I wasn't able to stick the photos on and thus journal, but I stamped them. I am ready to switch gears and start getting some stamping done for family and friends, and I really need to fill up my card display board! I have some stamp events coming up and I only have about 8 cards to display! Yikes!

Today's card has been put in the MAIL! Whoo hoo!

Supplies:

Stamps: Unchartered Territory, Sincere Salutations
Ink: Basic Black, Baja Breeze, Crumb Cake, Bashful Blue
Paper: Crumb Cake, Pure Poppy, Whisper white card stocks, In Color Paper Pack
Accessories: Neutral Buttons, Blender Pens, Watercolor Pencils

I haven't used Pure Poppy until now. It is a bit brighter than Real Red. I thought it would go well with the lighthouse, and I loved the stripey paper. Adds a touch of nautical-ness.

Have a great Monday!

Challenging Challenges...!

Challenge is a good word for today. Let's just leave it with: Neither of these cards are my favorite! LOL!

So, first I tried to play along with Beate's Inspiration challenge. I liked the polka dot pillow and knew I had some polka dot paper with Night of Navy....oh. And Brocade Blue... But it still worked, so I tried to use it. But the reason I still have this paper is because I can't seem to make it work with anything! LOL! It just seems so overpowering... so I went with just a chunk of it. And I think its ok! My snowman (who I love!) is all glittered out and colored with markers. And if nothing else- I got another Christmas card done! Hooray!

Supplies:

Stamps: Holiday Tag Team ~ Ink: Night of Navy, Rich Regals Markers ~ Paper: Whisper White card stock, All The Trimmings SS Kit, Night of Navy card stock ~
Accessories: Silver Brads, Mat Pack, Dazzling Diamonds Glitter, 2way glue pen

This came from my attempt at the SCS World Card Making Day challenges. One of the challenges was to use a tree. Ok! I colored this tree with my Watercolor Wonder Crayons, spritzed the stamp with water and stamped it onto the Watercolor Paper. Its sparse, but I like it! Then I made a frame! If you look closely you can see I scored the Close to Cocoa card stock to look like a wooden frame, and I swiped Chocolate Chip ink across it with a sponge to give it that wood-grain look.

Then I hung it from a silver brad and put it on the plain Mustard card....it needed something. Something like wall paper actually... but I couldn't think of any way to make "wallpaper" and I don't have any DP that looks enough like wall paper and still matches my card. Sooo I gave up some of my treasured Treehouse DP. It added that "something" to the card and it works with the feel, I'm just not sure it works with the "painting hanging from the wall". But you know what? It's done! :) That's as good as I get with the challenges today!

Supplies:

Stamps: Lovely As A Tree, Sincere Salutations ~
Ink: Chocolate Chip ~
Paper: More Mustard & Close to Cocoa card stock, Watercolor paper, Treehouse DP ~
Accessories: Watercolor Wonder Crayons, Silver Brad, Stamping Sponge

Pretty birthday!

I mentioned I forgot a birthday...how's this for a belated card? I love it! Both the sketch and colors come from SCS's challenges this week. Just needed that kick start to point me in the right direction.

Supplies:

Stamps: Embrace Life, Sincere Salutations ~

Ink: Stazon Black, Baja Breeze, Chocolate Chip, Really Rust ~

Paper: Chocolate Chip, Really Rust, Baja Breeze, Whisper White ~

Accessories: Blender Pens, Watercolor Wonder Crayons, Pewter Hodgepodge Hardware, Chocolate Taffeta Ribbon

And now, a gripe: If your children ride their bikes to and from school (or anywhere, really), can you please just remind them to stay OFF the middle of the ROAD?! I am pretty much sick of the panic attacks from some kid darting across the road RIGHT in front of me. I know, I know, my son has one of the worst super-hero complexes ever *wink*, and honestly, this is giving me good teaching opportunities, but we can do with a few less. Thanks.

Mosquitos!

As soon as I saw Beate's sketch for this weekend, I knew I wanted to have the card base be the patterned piece. I pulled out this set because its new and I hoped to use it. And I came up with a funny! ...which is just a tiny bit annoying because that was the OCC Challenge for last week. haha! O well....here's the card:

One thing I did a little differently today was dyed the ribbon two colors- one side is with Chocolate Chip and the other is Mellow Moss. You can't really tell, but it was fun to try that!

Supplies:

Stamps: Under The Stars, Sincere Salutations

Ink: Close to Cocoa, Mellow Moss

Paper: Mellow Moss, Close to Cocoa, Very Vanilla card stocks

Accessories: White grosgrain ribbon, Stamping Sponges (to dye the ribbon)

Little Lamb, Birthday & Thanksgiving!

In spite of working on other projects and having too much going on yesterday, I managed to get some stamping done last night!!! Hooray! LOL! Recently our friend's daughter was baptised and we had to miss it. I thought we could still send her a card so this is what I made, using Julee's Mojo Monday Sketch #52. I thought this lamb image was perfect for the occasion and took my card colors from the way I colored it. Somewhere I saw the lamb done in So Saffron, so that's what I did here. This is also a 4 1/4 square card.

Supplies: Stamps: Pun Fun, Warmest Regards Ink: Basic Gray, Baja Breeze Paper: Baja Breeze, Creamy Caramel, Pink Pirouette, Whisper White card stocks, So Saffron Prints DP Accessories: Watercolor Wonder Crayons, Blender Pens, Subtles Brads, Stamping Sponges, Pink Gingham Ribbon

I used Lauren's Saturday Sketch for the design behind my grandmother's birthday card. I totally cheated on that square focal point....I used my big square punch for the Pumpkin 'frame', and then used it to make reference points on the stamped paper, and then used my exacto knife to cut out the Vanilla piece with the flowers! (You get creative when you don't own all the fun tools- no second-larger square punch! LOL!)

Supplies: Stamps: Heartfelt Thanks, Sincere Salutations Ink: Pumpkin Pie, Old Olive, Close to Cocoa Paper: Old Olive, Close to Cocoa, Pumpkin Pie & Very Vanilla card stocks Accessories: Big Square Punch, Old Olive wide grosgrain ribbon

My final card uses a cool technique I'd never tried! The sketch is from Jen's Saturday Sketch and the reason I thought of this particular technique (Joseph's Coat) is because Andrea just did a tutorial on her blog HERE. I had to take the modifications a step further because I also do not own the brayer. My mom does...! Anyway, so here's a fancy Thanksgiving card!

Supplies: Stamps: Lovely As A Tree, Holidays & Wishes, Canvas Ink: More Mustard, Tangerine Tango, Ruby Red Paper: More Mustard, Ruby Red, Glossy card stocks Accessories: Round Tab Punch (sides trimmed off!), Pewter Hodgepodge Hardware Kit, Stamping Sponges, Clear Embossing Powder, Heat Tool

And just because inquiring minds want to know.... THIS is a heat tool.

You plug it in, heat it up for a few seconds and point at your embossing powder til it melts. Super cool technique!
