Sand Hill!

Today I have another hybrid layout from the same trip. This spot was a huge hit for all the kids but especially my youngest. That girl loves dirt and sand in any form. The little dots up the hill between mine and my husband's heads in the center picture are our kids and some other people, ha. It was big and fun and sooo sandy and dusty!

The title has been in my head since I created this page so it had to be done! It comes from a Wiggles song of the same title, haha! Some of my kids were huge fans of The Wiggles.

This page was also for a challenge to use hot colors, liiike red, orange and yellow. DONE! I actually scanned in the now-retired Delicate Desert DP for the background. Then I added digital mats in Calypso Coral, and the cardstock for the title is also Calypso Coral.
Supplies:
Ink: Calypso Coral mats
Paper: Calypso Coral, Delicate Desert   - scanned in
Accessories: Mini Alphabet Dies

A Day In the Life

It is FRIDAY. We made it. And with spring break this coming week, we're hoping to be both busy AND relax, ha. We'll see how it goes!

Today I have a scrapbook layout for you. This double layout uses a Scrapbook Workshop Kit that is on the Last Chance list, but it's still there! I made four pages with the kit in February, and here are two more. None of them remotely follow the included instructions, but I am happy with what I made. In fact, I like this one so much I kiiiinda might keep it in my own book instead of hers, ha.

Almost everything here came from the kit, but the button and ribbon are long retired supplies- which is how I scrap!

Supplies:
Paper: Crushed Curry & Basic White card stock, Autumn to Remember kit (DP, wood elements)
Accessories: Linen Thread, Autumn to Remember kit, Glue Dots, Natural Woven Ribbon (retired), long retired buttons, Paper-Piercing Essentials Pack (retired)

Sledding!

Happy Monday to you! I know it's even colder in some areas, but it was 10* when I dropped my kiddo off at school this morning, and that is the coldest it's been for her to be out, this season. Sure wish there was snow in the forecast...

Anyway, I have been getting some scrapping done this month! Even more than I hoped to, which is always a good things. Especially since I am again getting comments about all sorts of things still not scrapped...! (thank you facebook memories that remind me of things that need done...!) So here is a long-overdue event, finally in my son's book!

Supplies:
Stamps: Welcome Christmas, Whimsical Numbers (long retired)
Ink: Lost Lagoon
Paper: Basic White, All is Calm DP (long retired)
Journaling Font: Cinnamon Cake

Live Nativity

Happy December!! My favorite time of year!! I very rarely post on Sundays but I think I'll have enough to share this month, so here we are!!

This layout is quick and cute, but what's unique here is that everything is current! I try to use up long retired stash when I scrapbook, but this time I was really trying to feature the A Little Bit Festive DP and it's die cuts. So in this case- the trees and stars. Click to see it bigger!
Supplies:
Paper: A Little Bit Festive DP, Misty Moonlight & Basic White card stock
Accessories: A Little Bit Festive DP
Journaling Font: Bell MT

And if you haven't seen that DP pack up close, here you go!
Those bits could make a LOT of cards...or a lot of pages!! And the paper is fun too, even if there's only one sheet of each.

Pioneer Trek

Hello again! Another scrapbook layout today because this DP is on sale only until Saturday and I do not want you to miss out! And also once again combined with a very old stamp set, or three. I think I got the bootprints in my starter kit, which means it's 20 years old in my stash. Dude. LOL.

This layout is because in my neck of the woods, many people have great-grandparents (more greats than that...) who were actual pioneers, and there are youth activities to give them a tiny slice of a pioneer experience. My daughter went "in memory" of one of my 3rd great-grandmothers. She had to learn what information there was about her, and then they spent three days walking and pulling handcarts and its usually a really great experience. I was glad she got to do this, and she was glad too.
Supplies:
Stamps: Roughing It, Taffy Alphabet, Classic Alphabet Numbers (all long. retired.)
Ink: Crumb Cake, Early Espresso
Paper: Very Vanilla, Early Espresso card stocks, Unbounded Beauty DP (ON SALE!!)
Accessories: Scalloped Lace Trim

So back to this DP... First of all, I was excited there was a DP in existence that matched her skirt, haha! And for the strip on the second page, I grunged it up a bit by using a Blending Brush and Crumb Cake ink to make it match her very. dirty. skirt. Can you tell?
Anyway, it's fun what you can find in your stash, both old and new. And its fun to make things work for what you need.

The Sky Is the Limit!

Today I have a layout featuring current DP (that is actually on sale for just a couple more days!!) combined with an old stamp set. I often keep my stamp sets, but this one was specifically kept because later the same year it was released, my daughter flew a plane, and I wanted to use it for her scrapbook page, ha! Right now there is a similar plane set, with really great dies available, that coordinates perfectly with this DP. You can order that if you love this suite. But I already have this one.....

Background story- when I was a child, the only occupation I felt someone 'couldn't do' based on gender, was nursing. When I was 7 and broke my arm, I was shocked that the hospital nurse was a man. In fact I told him men can't be nurses.... Men can be doctors, but only women could be nurses. Sure, women could be doctors too. But that was too weird to my child brain.
Fast forward many years and not once, but TWICE in the same year, this daughter of mine learned, that women can do anything- be a politician OR a skilled pilot! She was in such awe of a female stunt pilot at the air show, that she decided to be a pilot too. Our family has never flown anywhere, altho my husband and I have flown individually. After a few months of making big plans and big dreams to be a pilot, my husband learned she could go on a short flight with the flight school at one of the local universities. And he set a date for it!

She has since decided she no longer wants to be a pilot, but she is still so proud of this day. Over the past few years, any time there's been a get-to-know-you activity, flying a plane always comes up. So it is way past time to get this scrapped for her!
Supplies:
Stamps: Sky Is The Limit (retired)
Ink: Boho Blue, Smoky Slate
Paper: Boho Blue & Basic White card stocks, Take it to the Sky DP (on sale!)

Backyard Campout!

 I forgot to hit publish!
~~~
Happy Saturday! Man, summer is busy!!
Today I have a page I put together last month. This campout was a big request last summer, so my youngest and I slept out back! I "made my own DP" by randomly stamping the very-long-retired camping images on paper. If I didn't get this stamp set with my starter kit, it was the next thing I ordered, ha.
Supplies:
Stamps: Roughing It, Alphabest
Ink: Real Red, Gray Granite, Pebbled Path, Pecan Pie, Blueberry Bushel, Memento Black
Paper: Bumblebee, Basic White card stocks
Journaling Font: Artistamp Medium
Here's a close up of the stamping if you're curious.
Art Festival
Today I've got a layout I made earlier this month. I believe this DP was from Sale-A-Bration last year, but I thought it worked perfectly with these photos. Everything you see here is retired, except the ink, ha. But that is what my retired crafting stash is for- scrapbooks!!
Supplies:
Stamps: Just Perfect Alpha (retired)
Ink: Fresh Freesia
Paper: Basic White, Pear Pizazz (retired), Dandy Designs DP (retired)
Accessories: Subtles Candy Dots (pink pirouette dots) (retired)
2024 May & June
Today I have the May and June pages to inspire your creating.
For May, I put the mom's on, and this page has the a few major events.
My kids don't love when I put things in a month it didn't happen, but we wanted a page of our trip to South Dakota, and the paper I chose worked for June best, even tho we went in September.
then dad's (and grandpa) with their kids for June for my parents.
2024 January & February
Since there was practically no crafting in December, and hardly any so far for January, I'm going to keep sharing these calendar pages. The pages are simple, keeping the focus on the photos.
So here are the January pages:
This page below was really about cramming the grandkids into one page.
And February:
And this page below was each of the couples, and then siblings together.
Learn to Swim!
I might not have many cards at the moment, but I have scrapbooked rather a lot that hasn't been shared here.
This page was for a challenge to include water on a page in some form. Got it! This was a couple summers ago, and the papers, ink and stamp set for the title are all very long retired!
Supplies:
Stamps: Whimsical Alpha Lower
Ink: Pacific Point
Paper: Basic White, Marina Mist card stock, Sunshine & Sprinkles DP
Are you making pretty things today? I am hoping to...!
Toon Town!
When we went to Disneyland, Toon Town was at least half closed. Things were boarded off, things didn't work, and it was kind of sad and lame. We were conflicted as to whether it was nice to see it before it all changed, or if it would have been better to skip it... jury is still out on that one. Some of the "boarded up" signs were funny, but I feel like it was funnier 20something years ago.
However, we still took a lot of pictures of what we *could see, so that means several pages worth. And I used a lot of 6x6 pages of DP that have literally been collecting dust for maybe 10 or more years so that was a good thing!
okay well this one is digital... Because I needed to fit a lot of photos on there! But the wonky 'counter' that tells you how many people reside in Toon Town wasn't spinning, the different sounds didn't happen when you pushed buttons, lots just didn't work. Darnit.
Barely Banana, Poppy Parade, Tempting Turquoise polka dot
Journaling font: Mickey
A page of things to ride in, except Mickey's Trailer, which has always been a favorite cartoon of mine that is actually on Disney+!
Donald Duck, and his boat, and the inside of Goofy's house, showing cartoons that are not as old as Mickey's trailer, but not as new as my childhood, haha.
Both Mickey and Minnie were inside their houses but you had to wave from clear into the "street". Stupid covid. And you can glimpse the "Toon Town" sign in the mountains, like the Hollywood sign, but that's all you can see of it. Sad...
Pluto was in his garden, which was fun.
Two water fountains, Gadget's Go Coaster (which reminded my son of the Phineas & Ferb episode with the half-second roller coaster, ha!) and Chip & Dale's treehouse.
And that summarized Toon Town, while using up old DP and old buttons! Love that!
Supplies:
ToonTown:
Cars: Poppy Parade polka dots, In Color Printed Designer Brads (Island Indigo)
Mickey/ Minnie house: real red polka dot DP, Peachy Keen stamps,
Pluto: Apricot Appeal? DP Wood Buttons
Donald/house: Bashful Blue DP, Brilliant Blue buttons
Fountains: Blushing Bride? DP
Journaling Font: Minnie
Fall Scrapbooking
I'm interrupting the Thank You cards to share a little more of the scrapbooking I did the last little while for this same kid. haha... Altho actually this one took a little turn.
It was one of those days where I lay out several ideas and get to what I get to. And this was one I didn't get to... So when I went back to it I forgot what I was going to do and tried to just play with the newest In Colors and see how it went.
Supplies:
Stamps: Alphabest, Painted Seasons (SAB retired)
Ink: Pebbled Path, Copper Clay, Pumpkin Pie, Tahitian Tide
Paper: Petals & Paisley's DP, Copper Clay & Very Vanilla card stocks
Accessories: Copper Cord
And I really like how it ended up- look how fun that is!
The problem was...I realized those colors were waaay more "for my son" than my daughter. And I also realized I had not yet scrapped it for him. Soo he got the first set and I made a second set for her! ha!
Supplies:
Stamps: Kinda Eclectic
Ink: Boho Blue, Moody Mauve, Wild Wheat, Copper Clay
Paper: Very Vanilla card stock
Accessories: 2023 In Color Dots
Leaving California Adventure
I got my computer to talk to the hard drive, so blog posts are now scheduled!
So today we're back to some Disney. This is a digital page of the end of our first day at California Adventure and just some fun things we enjoyed seeing and listening to. I happen to love how this page turned out. The blank film square will hold a QR code of the swing band, because my band kid loved it.
Supplies: MDS- long retired
I hope you're having a good weekend!
Jungle Cruise!
Good morning! Another Disneyland layout for you today!
This was a fun layout to make! I really liked the group picture so I made it bigger. And its on our wall, actually! Then some pics of the ride itself. This DP is actually orange, and came with MDS originally. And the elephant actually faces the other direction but I flipped him to get him on my page! MDS was a lot of fun when I knew what I was doing, ha!
Supplies:
MDS: Wild Wasabi, Tempting Turquoise, recolored Hoppy Memories DP, elephant comes from Storytime Suite
Journaling Font: Chiller
Another Dance!
Happy Monday and another week to do good in!
I've got another digital layout for my daughter today. I love dances because my kids always have me take the pictures, haha! Then I get good pictures, and I get to see their friends in a different light. And then I love scrapping the dance pictures! This time I used MDS so I could fit a ton of pics on there. Because I take a TON. of pics....
This is a really simple layout, just photos, DP and journaling, but I think it turned out pretty so there you go!
Beignets!
Today I've got another digital page with a funny title.
One of the favorite Disney movies in this house is the Princess and the Frog. It is a newer one so if you don't have kids you might not have seen it. (2009 IS "newer", I absolutely swear it!) The Princess in the title is a great cook and her specialty is beignets. One of the characters asks her to make her "man catchin beignets" and so of COURSE that had to be the title of the page, haha!
My older daughter actually tried making these with my husband's help before our trip, but none of us had ever had an beignet before sooo it wasn't exactly like it was in the park, haha.... Both times the treat was delicious.
And yes, if I'm recording every little detail, you bet I'm recording the costs of anything we purchased.
Colors: Wild Wasabi, Daffodil Delight
Mr Toad's Wild Ride!
I'm going to go back to sharing some Disneyland trip pages a lot more often than I have lately, haha... I can't even believe I haven't shared any since November! I have tons of them done, I may as well share them and see what it inspires YOU to make!
So as a refresher, we took our kids to Disneyland for the first time ever, last February. I was hoping to get it all scrapped before it had been a year, but we'll see...! I do have two FULL books (the D-Ring style book....I'm not kidding about the word "full") but there is more to do. Mostly I haven't shared the digital pages, but that's still Stampin' Up!, even if it isn't current. My scrapping is usually not done with current products anyway.
Also, I noticed that I apologize over and over and over that my pages are simple and I just decided this month that you know what? I am a simple scrapper, and that is FINE, haha. My kids love the pages, and I am not going to care any more if someone else thinks they're too simple or plain.
With all that out of the way, here's a page I made last February of a ride we actually did twice! It seriously amazes me how many things I have in my stash that are just perfect for Disney. Who would have guessed?
Everybody's Business DP
2023 May Calendar Pages
Today I've got the May calendar pages for you. These are so simple, but I think they still turned out fun. When you think about it as a kind of wall art, for several different homes, you don't really want a calendar page all decked out with some of the traditional scrapping styles.
(or maybe that's what I tell myself when I'm cramming.....?)
