Digital DONE!

Today marks the end of National Scrapbooking Month. I managed to get the whole book done for my son late last night and sent it off to print this morning!
*as a side note, I should mention, since I don't think the flyer makes it clear: when you print a photo book with Stampin' Up! the listed price is the base price and only covers the first 24 pages. Where it says "each additional page costs x" that means every page between 25-100. Just thought I'd spread the word.

With the goal to get this book done, I managed to get a TON of scrapbook pages complete this month. Scroll all the way down the side bar here and check me out! How did you fare?
Here are some of the latest pages I've created...

Stinkin' Cute!

Here are two more digital pages that to me are so dang cute!!
The first one is funny... When my son was this age I would let him play his computer games while his sister napped, and I would get some stamping or scrapbooking done. Win-Win for everyone! Well for whatever reason I walked away this day (probably to do something like change laundry) and when I came back, he was sound asleep kneeling under the desk with his head on the chair! haahaa! I had to snap a picture but also because when my younger brother was about the same age, he fell asleep at the kitchen table...in the pictures my mom took of my brother, you can see he was eating a cup of yogurt and just laid his head on the chair next to him. Too funny!
This second page is just of my kids hanging out and laughing together. That's my favorite. :)

Random Fun

This digital page has un-related photos of my son enjoying life throughout one month. So its just some random fun. :) I love these fun froggies for a playful touch. That's whats so great about My Digital Studio- these frogs came from a simply scrappin kit a few years ago but on the software they never retire and you never run out!
Then, it occurred to me I never shared these new cards I made the other day to put in the men's teacher gifts. I was going for some kind of puzzle block look but couldn't make these images do exactly that. The two cards are laid out a little different, but the objects are stamped in the same inks and other wise exactly the same.
Supplies:
Stamps: Under the Stars
Ink: Basic Black, Soft Suede, Chocolate Chip, Real Red, Wild Wasabi, Crumb Cake, More Mustard
Paper: Wild Wasabi, Crumb Cake, Whisper White

Wedding Pages

After a week of hardly scrapping a thing, I got nine digi pages done last night!!! I am excited! This month doubled my scrapping for the whole year! WHOO HOO!!!

These digi pages are all of my brother's wedding, and for my son's book, hence the ...lack of focus? on the bride & groom. hee hee... Also, remember these photos are old...
I used photo layouts from the MDS system but then modified them for my pictures. And I used the bride's colors as the color blocking accents. Kinda simple but pretty!

More Teacher Appreciation

Well...it was a good goal to have a scrapbook themed project every day this month. :) But then there's the rest of my life which demands my time in a louder voice. And for the most part, that's okay.
Today I'm showing what I did for my son's teacher, who is a man, and for our awesome principal who is moving to another school and is also a man. Men are so difficult! Do they send cards? It happens that none of the men I know send cards...Soooo this is what they got:
Two boxes of candy, two packs of microwave popcorn, three masculine-y cards and a personal thank you card, all stuffed in this cute nautical themed bag!
Supplies:
Stamps: The Open Sea
Ink: Crumb Cake, Chocolate Chip, Night of Navy, Baja Breeze, Cherry Cobbler
Paper: Whisper White & Baja Breeze card stocks
Accessories: Tag Punch, Cherry Cobbler/White Bakers Twine

Coordination

does not mean matching. :) Here's a page for yesterday and a page for today that coordinate. They'll face each other in the book but the photos are of different days and look totally different, which mean I need different "feels" for each page.

Creating within the creation...

Last night I got 6 digi pages done and surpassed my May goal! yeay! I still have plenty of work to do on this book if I am ever going to get it done this month, lol!
Here's one of the more time-consuming pages I made and had to create some of the elements to do so:

A good project, a great idea.

So, apparently, back in 2006 is when Stampin' Up! offered this whole office style set. I bought the spiral punch, the Notations DP and this 8x5ish art journal (which is still available- as is the punch!) and I have saved the DP to use in this book. I put the cover together shortly after getting it all..... and that is exactly as far as it went. It has been moved from spot to spot in my office for what is that? five years??? holy cow...
Last week when I took my kids to the library I was on the hunt (as I always am) for a book we haven't read a trillion times...something new...something different.... this book caught my eye because of the vintage illustrations, which I am a sucker for.

But the thing is, its exactly the format I am looking for on that book I started! The story starts out with a little girl asking her "Granny, what was it like when Mummy was me?"* and the grandmother goes thru a long-ago year, month by month, only talking about the celebrations and the good times that were had. Presumably this is a typical year and it was put together in such a fun way... THAT is my next big project! Next time I print photos? it will feature our little family's traditions and share how we spend a year celebrating! Fun huh?? I am super excited!

Mojo Mojo!

It's the end of the school year so I have been busily working on teacher appreciation gifts. I was looking for card sketches to make the process faster and when I 'gather' sketches I tend to draw them up with a list of where they came from. I stamped the Crumb Cake card stock and while wondering what to do next realized I could use half for one sketch and half for another...both sketches come from the Mojo Monday blog! So! First we have the card created with Mojo #190 and the second is from Mojo #191!
Supplies:
Stamps: The Open Sea, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Ink: Night of Navy, Cherry Cobbler, Crumb Cake, Baja Breeze, Chocolate Chip
Paper: Baja Breeze, Crumb Cake, Night of Navy, Whisper White, Basic Gray
Accessories: Cherry/White Bakers Twine, Neutral Buttons, Regal Brads, Bitty Buttons, Mat Pack

How is National Scrapbook Month going for you? I am cruising with my scrapbook goal this month! I still have plenty of work to do if I'm going to finish up this digital book but its coming along! So here's another quick page that goes along with the trip to California.

pretty things...

This page uses digital stamps and then digital brads in the center of the flowers! It is super simple but I like it a lot.
I have also been working on cards for Teacher Appreciation gifts. This simple and lovely card is a complete copy of a card on Splitcoaststampers, by "Shadow's Mom". The only difference is she used an antique brad and I had neutral buttons and pearls instead. I thought it was so pretty and very easy to do...
The square background is also her tip: just ink your clear blocks for your clear-mount stamps and voila! you have a unique background quick as that!

Supplies:
Stamps: Vintage Vogue, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Ink: Crumb Cake, Elegant Eggplant
Paper: Elegant Eggplant, Whisper White
Accessories: Pearls, Neutral Buttons, Mini Glue Dots

Summer Fun

This card uses the Stamping 411 sketch #201 and my sah-weet new nautical set and the Nautical Expedition paper this time too!

Then, I did five pages last night with My Digital Studio! Yeay! This one is fun and bright. Its smack in the middle of our California trip...

a little fun

I love this digital page! I have color filled punch shapes as the color for the "stamped" images, and the stamp images come from the Sale-A-Bration disk. I think it has a fun look to it!

The weekend!

Blogger has been up and down, our internet has been in and out and I had an extremely busy weekend! So here we are, Sunday night, ready to post a page for both yesterday and today.

Both pages are done with My Digital Studio software and are of a trip to California a few years ago.
Apparently its the 15th of the month which means I only have a couple weeks left to finish the book and get it ready to print! *ack!* But the flip side is I am so excited to get a printed, complete book here!! It might even end up a birthday present... anyway, are YOU getting scrapbook projects done for National Scrapbook Month??

And to reward patient people (lol) here's a card as a bonus. I am so in love with this new set and coordinating pieces!! Every time I see anything anyone has made I just flip out a little! LOL! I have seen the ocean like three times in my life (biggest time was before I was 2), I have been on about three tiny boats in my life...and that might include canoes... but I LOVE ships and nautical and MAPS!!! *squeal!*
Okay, crazy lady logging off now... These two cards are practically the same and I love them! hee hee...
Supplies:
Stamps: The Open Sea, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Ink: Early Espresso, Baja Breeze, Night of Navy, Real Red, Crumb Cake
Paper: Baja Breeze, Crumb Cake, Night of Navy, Whisper White card stocks
Accessories: Cherry Cobbler Baker's Twine

Poster Into a Page

Today's project shows the easiest way to scrapbook... hee hee.
My daughter was the Star Student in her class at school a couple of weeks ago so I just yanked the photos off the poster, arranged them on the plain white card stock, journaled the same captions that were on the poster and typed up the info about her! So here it is! Three pages done in one fell swoop! haha!

Supplies:
Stamps (you can't see, its her name, lol)
Ink: Melon Mambo marker
Paper: Whisper White card stock
Accessories: stickers from the grocery store!

A funny thing...

The picture on today's page was taken last summer. As soon as I saw it I knew what I wanted to do with it. it needed to be the focal point, and only photo on the page and I wanted to use the lyrics to her favorite song then (and still today)- Happy Girl by Martina McBride. I finally got the page put together and I fiddled with it for a while until settling on this layout. Altho the colors are much more vibrant irl.

Supplies:
Paper: Wild Wasabi, Daffodil Delight, Ice Cream Parlor SS Kit (retired- Sale-A-Bration '11)
Accessories: Ice Cream Parlor SS Kit (retired- Sale-A-Bration '11)

When I showed the page to her, my son asked if he had any "music" pages. Yes you do! ha. I did this page a really long time ago, and posted about it here. Notice anything similar? And I'm not even talking about the fact that I used the same font .... wow. I must really like this design for this idea. hahaha.......

A Two-fer!

Since yesterday was so busy I neglected to attach a photo to this post, today is a two-fer!

I got a couple hours to scrapbook on Mother's Day while my family watched a movie. It felt a little strange to "celebrate mothers day" away from they who made me a mother *wink*, but it was the only time I expect to have this week so I was very happy to get three more pages done! Here's the two paper pages:

This page uses one of the same photos as the page in this post, so its okay if it seems a little familiar. This page also uses very old Stampin' Up! DP but I love it for my daughters book. And I used a sketch from SCS found here.
Supplies:
Stamps: none
Ink: chocolate Chip Marker
Paper: Tempting Turquoise, Chocolate Chip & Whisper White card stocks, Loves Me DP (retired!)
Accessories: Scallop Edge Punch, cherry blossom punch-unknown

I am very happy with this page! I used another sketch from SCS found here. Its simple, but the paper makes it fun, I think. The little face in the middle picture cracks me up!

Supplies:
Stamps: Just Perfect Alphabet
Ink: Early Espresso, Chocolate Chip marker
Paper: Old Olive & More Mustard card stocks, DP
Accessories: Regals Brads, Mat Pack

Lost a Tooth!

Happy Mother's Day!
I hope all the mothers, grandmothers, aunts, sisters, teachers, neighbors and friends are enjoying their Mother's Day. We had some fun family time yesterday, snapped this picture before church this morning
and we're now enjoying a relaxing afternoon. My husband is making some yummy Italian for dinner and a carrot cake from scratch!

In keeping with my goal for the month, here's a paper page for you! I used retired DP but it sparkles and she was so excited...and upset... and sparkles are perfect for little girls!

Supplies:
Stamps: none
Ink: Chocolate Chip Marker
Paper: Pretty in Pink card stock, Sending Love DP
Accessories: Red Taffeta ribbon, White grosgrain ribbon

New digi bits!

This digital page uses the Sale-A-Bration add on disk, but it also uses the Paper Daisies which I got as a download! And I used them together to make a nice wedding themed page!
Curious about the vellum-looking layer? I chose the square punch, stretched it as big as I wanted, filled it with Whisper White color and then changed the opacity to a more transparent setting! nice, huh?
This really is a quick, not to mention tidy, way to catch up on a lot of scrapbook pages! You really should try it!

Lots of photos!

If you haven't used My Digital Studio you may be interested to know that it has pre-designed layouts. You can choose the "drop a photo into an otherwise completed page" type of book or you can select a layout that has photo and journaling boxes already and you fill in all the blanks. Sort of like working with a sketch. This is the second type of page- I deleted the bottom row of "photos" and put my journaling there. And I fit a bunch of photos in a super tidy way! Yeay!

May Stamp News...

I need to highlight the things going on this month:
  • The Summer Mini started on the 1st. If you haven't seen it, click on the image on my side bar. You will love the fun new punches, the summer themed stamps, the Father's Day sets, the colored embossing powders, and the gorgeous Strength & Hope set!
  • For every purchase of the Strength & Hope stamp set or digital kit, Stampin' Up! will donate $2 to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. It is a beautiful set, and very versatile, not to mention helping out a wonderful cause.
  • I keep mentioning National Scrapbook Month. The Digital Starter Kit is 30% off this month! There are stamp sets are available for 30% off, there are digital bundles available, and some digital print prices have been discounted to help us celebrate! Let me know if you would like the complete list!
In the meantime, here's a quick and I think fabulous page I made last night with My Digital Studio! I can't wait to get this book ordered!

'nother baby page

Here's another digi page for my son's book! This one is cute too, but much simpler. It just kills me how much my kids have grown up! *sniffle....
The background "paper" came from the Sale-A-Bration disk! loove that!

May Is...!

MAY IS NATIONAL SCRAPBOOKING MONTH!

Since this is actually my favorite past time, I can't just let this slip by without some serious fun attention! This time around I set some lofty goals to be able to show you a new scrapbook page each day. Let's see how I do... (not to mention how exciting it will be to get 31 new pages done!!!) So this page was done in April and saved for today.

I thought the bright colors help convey the hot summer evening we're enjoying in these pictures. Is it still cold where you are? We had snow twice last week... ugh! Altho better than tornados, so I'm done complaining!!! The stamp sets are retired and the stickers come from the SAB Simply Scrappin kit which just retired, but hey, using stash is a great thing to do with your scrapbooks. That way you "keep" the stuff you're hoarding, and use it up at the same time! Everybody wins!
 Supplies:

Stamps: Taffy Alphabet, Sweet Scoops
Ink: Tangerine Tango, Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight, Crumb Cake, Chocolate Chip, Poppy Parade, Pear Pizazz, Old Olive
Paper: Daffodil Delight & Whisper White card stocks, Ice Cream Parlor Simply Scrappin Kit

Then, you want to hear a tip I just came up with the night I made this page? Remember before the whole acid-free freak out we used to write on the backs of our photos? ...you don't still do that, do you? it scares me a little... anyway, since these are the friends my kids play with today but when any of us moves away names will eventually be forgotten, I put names on the back of the page, just like I used to do with the snapshots! Clever, huh? Of course. hahaha...!
