School!

Happy Monday, again! I cannot believe that school starts again in just a couple of weeks. This summer has gone so fast. There's so much we haven't done yet! *whine! *panic!

I made this page a few months ago and never got around to sharing it here. It is, of course, primarily retired but I really loved this DP and it's so perfect for the little grades! And I used three bits on this packed page, ha!

Posies

Wow, I have been drowning in busy this month. I do have a few things I made a couple weeks ago...

Starting here! Well, the photos came in the wrong order and I can't fix it, but! A couple weeks ago, I made this layout double for my niece. The colors of the flowers came from our clothes. I love this retired flower set because it's fast to put together and always looks great. But this time, I liked the flower collage so much I made a quick card too!

So here's the card:

And here are the pages!
(The second photo is lousy but my edits messed up the original photo sooo this is what I have!)

Supplies:
Stamps: Gorgeous Posies, Whimsical Alpha Upper & Lower
Ink: Pretty in Pink, Moody Mauve, Boho Blue, Basic Beige, Old Olive

This is SUCH a busy summer here! I hope you're finding a little crafty time!

Here is a page I made a couple weeks ago, of another library activity. This one was a chance to learn about rollercoasters, and they provided some supplies to try and make a rollercoaster for a marble! My kids' worked but not when the judge was watching, darnit. ha.

Color Throwdown!

Happy Wednesday to you!
Today I have some very happy, because I was selected by Color Throwdown to play along this week!
This is their challenge image, and you can find it here: Color Throwdown #801
And this is how I used these pretty autumny colors:
and a slightly different angle of lighting...
Supplies:
Stamps: Encircled in Nature
Ink: Crumb Cake, Cajun Craze, Night of Navy
Paper: Night of Navy, Crumb Cake, Cajun Craze
Accessories: Iridescent Foil Gems, Encircled in Nature dies, Exposed Brick embossing folder, Dimensionals, Blending Brush, Tombow adhesive, big shot (retired)

I tried inking the embossing folder, but I guess the ink was too wet because it just made a mess. So I ran it thru again and this time swiped my ink pad across the raised edges. I like how it wasn't full-coverage and I think that adds to the distressed look. I used a Blending Brush with Crumb Cake ink on the center cut out part of the wreath, and then left the wreath itself plain, to stand out a bit more. I cut an extra leaf die and layered it on top. And I really love the result!

I hope you get to stay inside during this super hot week and get some crafting done!

9th Grade

I got this page done for my son's first day of 9th grade quite a while ago, but moving out of the draft folder is always a good thing.
Here's something interesting.... you may notice, lots of his pages have weird angles and wonky placement, and most of them have fun, bright colors. That's my boy in a few words. This time, I found this kit and thought it would be great for an "older" kid. I laid out the papers that I liked the patterns of and chose some edge stickers. I glued it all down and then started on the journaling and realized.... This was the school year he hated more than anything. We were building our house and temporarily living across the valley. He couldn't go to school at "his" school for the first quarter and he couldn't BE "home" and he struggled with that. So how interestingly fitting that I used colors he wouldn't pick and lines he wouldn't love to capture this year. And I didn't even do it on purpose. Huh. Funny what comes through....
Anyway, this was another Simply Scrappin' kit and it DOES make a nice masculine page! Even if it isn't his style. Another one done! Yeay!!

Birthday Balloons!

Here's a happy card, using the birthday girls' favorite colors. Goodness- always ask if you can. I would have done her card in black and purple, ha!

I think it works perfectly for the Festive Friday challenge too, if I understand it correctly. My choices from their list is Blue, Rhinestones, Balloons and Celebratory Sentiment. The solid balloon, curly string, and words are old Paper Pumpkin stamps, and the polka dot balloon comes from a bonus PP stamp set. The straighter string came from another long retired stamp set, Beautiful Ride.
Supplies:
Stamps: Beautiful Ride (retired), Paper Pumpkin (old!)
Ink: Granny Apple Green, Daffodil Delight, Blueberry Bushel, Memento Black
Paper: Basic White card stock
Accessories: Rhinestones (long retired)
