Quick Creations

Today I stole some crafting time and threw a few things together, literally, haha!
This page is super simple, aside from the cutting out the leaves, but with the Big Shot, that's pretty simple too... *grin
Supplies:
Paper: Not Quite Navy textured card stock, Cajun Craze, Daffodil Delight & Whisper White card stocks, Parker's Patterns DP
Accessories: Big Shot, Woodgrain Embossing Folder, Autumn Accents Bigz Die

And this super speedy gift bag was literally thrown together this morning. Its Teacher Appreciation week this week. Sunday I had the kids each make a card for their teachers (which I was lame and forgot to photograph...sniff). Tuesday night I went to the store for a treat for the teachers. Annnnd Wednesday morning realized I needed some kind of packaging...and that I usually give the teachers a small bundle of cards from my stash....! Sooo I picked out some cards, stamped these bags, put the cards from the child, the cards for the teacher to use and the treat in there, tied it, snapped a photo and rushed the kids off to school, haha!
Supplies:
Stamps: Summer Silhouettes, Million Dollar Moments
Ink: Melon Mambo, Rich Razzleberry, Wild Wasabi & Basic Gray

A birthday kind of weekend...

First of all I would like to direct you to the tabs across the top of my blog, right there under the banner. See those? You might want to click on those. You might even want to just get in the habit of clicking on the one labeled "What's Going On?!" because there you will find the current promotions, sales and other happenings that Stampin' Up! is offering at any given time.

Now on to the crafting. *grin
My daughter had a birthday party to attend this weekend. I asked if she wanted to make her friend a card or if she wanted to use one from my stash. She wanted to use one...but didn't like any I had in my stash, lol. So I literally threw this one together, and yes, it uses the recently retired Sale-A-Bration stamp, but it also uses a long retired Simply Scrappin' Kit! But, it uses stuff up and it is perfect for a little boy!!
Supplies:
Stamps: Feeling Sentimental (retired)
Ink: Real Red, Basic Black
Paper: Whisper White card stock, Primary Colors Simply Scrappin' Kit (retired)

And then it was my friend's birthday too. I realized much too late that I had packed all our gift wrapping away to the storage unit, and was not about to drive out there for a bag, lol. So I stamped a little brown lunch sack and made it all cute and birthday-y before taking it to her!
Supplies:
Stamps: Patterned Party
Ink: Tangerine Tango, Rich Razzleberry, Daffodil Delight
Paper: brown lunch sack
Accessories: small hole punch, Sycamore Street ribbon (retired!)

Did you make anything fun this weekend?

This & That!

Ok, today's news is a new product line I am SOOO excited about!!!
It's called This & That. If you've seen or heard of SMASH books, you know exactly what this is, but this one comes with Stampin' Up!'s excellent quality and in Stampin' Up!'s exclusive and fabulous colors!

Anyone planning a trip of any kind? Around here we have Spring Break coming up, and then of course summer is on its way! This kit is a perfect tool to use as your travel journal! Tack ticket stubs, menus, receipts, or anything really, in with the fun washi tape, jot down funny things you see or do, and stick the photos in after you get home!

Are your kids still small enough to be spouting off hilarious bits of wisdom, sprinkled in with their funny and surprising random questions? Ever find yourself wishing you could write that down before you forget it? Keep this in your purse, and write down whatever they happen to announce, right when they say it! Take random photos of them at "this" age and stick them in the book later! What a handy photo journal to look back on in years to come (you know, when those sweet chubby cheeks become less-than-hilarious, sulky teenagers...)!

This product literally has so many possibilities! I am so excited to get the bundle, but if you only want a little of this or that (ha! no pun intended but it sure worked!) you can buy each piece separately! The bundle is only available until April 30, so order this now and be ready for whatever life brings! *The products will be in the new catalog, sold separately.

As a side note, few years ago Stampin' Up! sold a similar art journal as the one you see with This & That, and I have turned it into a {work in progress} Traditions book, to document the way we spend our days. Here are few pages....and yes, This & That would work great for a project like this for you!

Week 11!

This weekly page was completed this past Sunday night (the one that began week 12)! whoo hoo!! Not much to tell about this page, other than I got a little mixed up and tacked the Sunday that should have been part of the next week on to this page. I have decided to be ok with that, haha, and not bother re-doing this page anymore. If you saw it on Splitcoast, I've already adjusted one of the ribbons, the text, and added the little shamrocks. Its really time to just move. on. haha!
Supplies: MDS

And now I'm hoping to get some cards made this weekend....we'll see if it happens, haha.

Stamp Set Class: Summer Silhouettes

So this spring I'm trying out a new class concept. This is ideal for beginners, or people who purchase stuff but never seem to use it, or people who struggle to think of what to do with a particular set. Do you fall into any of those categories? Plus, class attendees take home the stamp set and can thus continue with their creative momentum!

I select a stamp set that I think can suit many stampers and design three cards with it. The class attendees receive their own (choice of wood or clear mount) stamp set, assemble it and create the cards as a jumping off point to using that stamp set. The first set I chose is Summer Silhouettes and the class is today!. I've owned this for a little while now, and there are samples found here on this blog (just go to the side bar, scroll down to "Find My Stamps" and click on Summer Silhouettes- tada!).

The first card we created was for the most basic uses (I also used the Freshly Made sketch found HERE). If all you had was one package of card stock, the coordinating markers or a few of the inks, and this stamp set, you could easily create this card: (I chose the soon-to-retire In Color set to remind you that these colors will soon be GONE!)
Supplies:
Stamps: Summer Silhouettes
Ink: Island Indigo, Lucky Limeade, Pool Party, Wisteria Wonder markers
Paper: Island Indigo, Pool Party & Whisper White card stocks

The second card used two very inexpensive accessories and one package of DP, in addition to the very basic supplies of stamps, ink and card stock! And also is based on the Freshly Made sketch HERE. I love how this card turned out too, bright and sweet. I even threw in a technique- the rock and roll technique on the little flowers to add a bit more color.
Supplies:
Stamps: Summer Silhouettes
Ink: Old Olive, Pretty in Pink & Melon Mambo
Paper: Pretty in Pink, Basic Gray, Whisper White card stocks, First Edition DP
Accessories: White Baker's Twine, Neutral Buttons

And this third card again builds on this, with more accessories and tools (two punches), and uses the most recent Retro Sketch found HERE. (and more of those Sale-A-Bration supplies that will be gone tomorrow!)
Supplies:
Stamps: Summer Silhouettes
Ink: Summer Starfruit, Rich Razzleberry
Paper: Rich Razzleberry, Pool Party & Whisper White card stocks, Sycamore Street DP (Sale-A-Bration only!!!)
Accessories: Sycamore Street Ribbon & Buttons (Sale-A-Bration only!!!), Scallop Edge Punch, Corner Rounder Punch, Glue Dots

While perusing blogs yesterday I found THIS card on Jen's blog and loved it. I also got a small order at my door yesterday and decided to play with this stamp set from the Spring Mini, along with some of my Sale-A-Bration DP!
Supplies:
Stamps: Feel Goods
Ink: Calypso Coral, Pool Party markers
Paper: Whisper White, Pool Party & Calypso Coral card stocks, Sycamore Street DP (Sale-A-Bration only!)
Accessories: Pennant Punch, Printed Brads

Week 6 Plus News!

This page has been sitting for a couple weeks mostly done. I needed a photo edited and wasn't able to do it myself. Had to wait for my husband to have a few minutes to fix it for me, *smile.
I think this page started my yellow scrapping kick, and mostly, if not completely, uses the Lemonade Stand content disk. That's a Sale-A-Bration-only item- you have just a few days to get it if you want it!!
Supplies:
My Digital Studio / MDS2
Lemonade Stand content disk (Sale-A-Bration only!)

But guess what else?? If you're one of those who has been waiting to purchase My Digital Studio software, you will want to read this bit of news HERE and HERE!

MDS Monday!

This time the MDS Monday challenge had a sketch and a challenge to throw in some subway art! This photo collage fit the photo spot nicely so I used words that have to do with getting glasses! *grin

I haven't decided if its too busy with the two patterns and all the words....I like the colors, I did make the background "sheet" more transparent so it would be softer...but still, there's a lot to look at. Oh well, for now its done, hee hee!
And I used 14 different fonts! It was fun to decide which words to type in upper, lower or proper case, and which font worked well too. However, for me, I put most of the words in their own text box, and copying all of them to paste them below was not so much fun, hahaha! The boxes overlapped quite a bit so that took the most time for the whole page.

Week #9

This page looks pretty simple, I think the white background does that. And here's a little confession...sometimes after I see the page posted here I go back and make tiny adjustments. On this one I even have to fix the journaling, lol! That is a really great thing about digital tho- no tearing things out and ripping papers and ruining things...! Hooray for that! Anyway, here's another weekly page done!

Last Week

Remember my brilliant idea to keep up with scrapbooking this year by doing weekly pages? yeah. well.... haha. I did the first 4 week pages right on time and then started slipping....so last night I did Weeks #9 and 10! (this is the 11th week of the year, btw...!) I also have Week 6 98% done, but that's clearly for another day. And since Week 10 was so much fun for me (my birthday!) I'm going to share that one today!
I still love this idea and I am still working on it. I have a list going of the notable events and times when the camera comes out, to remind me what I want to put on these pages. And really, I'm only 3 weeks behind...from the right perspective! *grin
Supplies:
My Digital Studio/ MDS2
Lemonade Stand Sale-A-Bration Content Disk
Stacks of Millions Hostess Content Disk

For a while there all my scrapping had a lot of pale blues. Now its turned to grays and yellows. Is this the weather shining thru my work? hee hee...
What projects are you working on?

Digital Sketch!

I got to make another scrapbook page yesterday! This is of my son who after participating in his first science fair ever, got to go on to the District Level! He was so excited and we were very proud of him!
I used the current MDS Monday sketch but I had to flip it to fit these photos. I even used the technique challenge they listed of ripping the photos- which was really cool! I also got to play with a few new-to-me elements, and some new items from the Sale-A-Bration content disk! Love that!!
Supplies:
My Digital Studio / MDS2
Lemonade Stand Content Disk: Stitching, background & stripe circle DP
Domestic Goddess Content Disk: Plaid DP
Timeless Portrait Content Disk: Dotty DP

Have you tried digital scrapbooking yet? You can download a FREE 30 day trial of MDS2 and see what you think! I have really grown to enjoy it!

Colors of Spring!

Last week I was invited to join a blog hop with some Stampin' Up! Demonstrators from the same downline I belong to. I was super excited!! And then my life was suddenly too crazy for any stamping! AHHH! However, I have now completed a scrapbook page and realized I never shared my final Technique Card Class project! So here you go- some of my favorite shades of spring!

This card used a technique that flopped, so we stamped on the DP and then focused on the Soda Pop Tops and putting a stamped image inside! ...I'll let you know if I can make the technique work, haha!
Supplies:
Stamps: Nature Walk, Collage Curios
Ink: Daffodil Delight, Crumb Cake
Paper: Certainly Celery, Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla card stocks, First Edition DP
Accessories: Soda Pop Tops, Daffodil thin taffeta ribbon, Natural ribbon, 1 inch circle punch

And this page has been sitting with the card stocks, photos and stamp set just waiting for me to get it put together! It fits the VSBN challenge #8, because I stamped, punched and embossed the card stock, and fits the Colors of Spring so nicely too!
Supplies:
Stamps: Creative Elements, Taffy Alphabet (retired)
Ink: Melon Mambo, Chocolate Chip Marker, Pretty in Pink
Paper: Crumb Cake, Pretty in Pink card stocks
Accessories: Syracuse Street Buttons (Sale-A-Bration), Natural Ribbon, Big Shot, Woodgrain Embossing folder

Now go check out everyone else's Colors of Spring!
Next for the hop is JULIE!

Make Your Own - Washi Tape!

This is the newest technique I have seen so you bet it made it into this class! Have you seen or heard of Washi Tape? its mostly transparent tape, like scotch tape, but thicker and repositionable, like masking tape. It has become a huge thing in the crafting world because it comes in a huge variety of patterns, like stripes, polka dots, whatever, in dozens of colors and is just the fastest way to add a bit of fun to any project. No really, ANY project.

Earlier this month, a fellow Stampin' Up! demonstrator shared a card with the technique to make your own washi tape! Well that's just too fun to pass up! I picked this fun stripe from the Sycamore Street (Sale-A-Bration!) DP and my cute new stamp set and put this together!

The technique is so easy! Lay some scotch tape onto your DP, trim around the tape, wet the back and rub off the layers til it becomes transparent! I stopped earlier than I should have, but I was on a time-crunch to get these samples done, haha! So you can still see the white on the edges of this strip. But! You can also see that its mostly transparent, but it keeps the orange stripe-yness to it.
SO FUN!
Plus! You just learned something new, haha!
And I really like this card too. *grin
Supplies:
Stamps: Creative Elements
Ink: Baja Breeze, Tangerine Tango, Midnight Muse
Paper: Baja Breeze, Midnight Muse & Whisper White card stocks, Sycamore Street DP
Accessories: Vintage Faceted buttons, White Bakers Twine

Sunshine in the Rain

This card just might be my favorite from this class! Partly because I LOVE the products!! I love this stamp, I love the DP, I love the glitter paper, I love the font of the words! haha! I thought it would be good to stick a sympathy card in our stashes, since I needed two last week... And maybe this isn't quite soft enough for sympathy, but maybe its more of a "cheer up, I'm thinking of you thru this" card? I wanted the pop of color and the "silver lining" from the sparkle. Can you see the sprinkling of glittery rain drops? A few of them have Dazzling Details on them. Anyway, I love this card!

The techniques we used here are the Dazzling Details on the rain drops, and the cutting out the pink umbrella. Basic, but maybe something you don't think of every day.
Supplies:
Stamps: Million Dollar Moments
Ink: Basic Gray, Bashful Blue, Melon Mambo
Paper: Whisper White & Melon Mambo card stocks, Silver Glitter DP, Sunshine and Sprinkles DP
Accessories: Scallop Edge Punch, White Stitched Grosgrain ribbon, Dazzling Details

Tips to make this card easier?
  • I ran my SNAIL along the Melon card stock, next to the white stamped panel, and laid the DP's on top of the strip of SNAIL!
  • I stamped the Melon Mambo umbrella first so it wasn't muddy after stamping the Basic Gray image.
  • The ribbon is just two little pieces, wrapped around a corner and taped down. I added a third bit of ribbon to the top strip for the knot.
As a side note, here's the back of the cloudy paper.... does that not take you back to Care Bears?! LOL! I love it!
