Tagged!

Chelle tagged me a while ago and this one is pretty easy, so now that I have a chance, I'll play along too!

1. Because I'm in "soundtrack" mode, as it turns out, I really enjoy sword fights in movies! This is really weird if you know me and movies...I don't like intense movies, I don't like scary anything, I don't like a lot of action or violence...unless its swords! How odd... (Yes, yes, Yvette, cute guys winning the sword fight helps...! And they have to be FUN movies (not scary!): Princess Bride, Pirates, Star Wars, Zorro...)

2. I really am NOT an "orange" person. I have a hard time liking it...and yet the first ink I picked from the new In Colors is Tangerine Tango! (and I do love Stampin' Up!'s Pumpkin Pie too)

3. I LOVE mail. When I was little I once sat down and wrote a personal letter to every single one of my aunts and uncles, hoping for anybody to write me back! Later, I had pen pals in 4 different countries at one time: Scotland, Australia, Germany and Egypt.

4. On mine and Burt's first date we went grocery shopping...twice! And I asked him out!

5. I like to dip pretzel sticks into peanut butter. It's a great snack!

6. I love having new shoes, but I reeeally love to be barefoot!

7. I was tagged a month ago and there's a thing about to-do lists. I love to cross things off my list...that list a month ago? I've gotten TWO things done! ACK!

I tag YOU: Dawn, Marcy, Melissa, Yvette, Darci, RaeAnne & Carrie!

Pink birthday!

Here is my second card from the other night! I needed a birthday card for a friend and thought I'd feature more retiring products! And it comes from Jen's Saturday Sketch to Try. (My scrapbook class this Wednesday comes from the same sketch!) I have a Pixie Pink card base, the side squares are punched from the Wild Wasabi Prints paper (hostess level 1) and I have three little black buttons on the squares too. The main image is the flower from Time Well Spent (hostess level 3). I stamped it all with Basic Black ink, then colored with the ink pad (Wasabi, Pink and Yoyo Yellow) and blender pens. I matted the White paper onto Basic Black card stock and wrapped it with (retiring!) Wild Wasabi double stitched ribbon. Then I stamped half of this greeting stamp from Its Your Birthday in Pink Passion ink. Went pretty quickly too!

Back to Stamping!

Yes folks, I do still stamp! LOL! It feels like its been forever! So last night I got two cards done and I am excited! Today I'm just showing the first. Its for Taylor's Cupcake Challenge and I even have a cupcake stamp!!! (big thanks to Lindsey for pointing out we have a cupcake in the give-away stamps we may have as demonstrators and bigger thanks to RaeAnne for giving this to me!)
So here is a close-up of the really cute, tiny cupcake...

And here is my card! (Oh, I also used kwerners color inspiration #13 which I missed by a long shot.) This was a lot of fun to make, possibly because I haven't stamped for FUN in so long! I have a Purely Pomegranate base (retiring!), a card front of Regal Rose card stock, that is wrapped with a piece of (retiring!) River Rock double stitched ribbon, and has four silver brads in the corners. Then the focal point is all matted on Wild Wasabi card stock (retiring!) which is pierced down the middle-ish. The greeting is stamped in Pomegranate ink and comes from the old Send A Celebration set. And the cupcakes are stamped in Basic Black and colored with Watercolor Wonder Crayons and Blender Pens and punched out with the 1/4 inch circle punch. I also used my 2way glue pen and Dazzling Diamonds glitter on the tops of the cupcakes. Cute, cute!

Soo Busy!

Seriously! I would like to just SIT for a while with nothing to worry about getting done! Since we're still working fast and furiously on the foreign exchange stuff, I'm not getting anything else done. So I'll just leave you with this cute little title on an otherwise extremely boring page! ha ha! Really, white paper, three pictures of her with my son...and a fun title!
I used the retired Circus Train set (have I mentioned his love of trains? LOL!) and just outlined parts of the giraffe car for the three cars holding his name, which I stamped in Ballet Blue ink. Needless to say, he loves the page. So long as somebody does!
Hopefully I'll be back with something new to see on Saturday! Oh! if you want to attend my scrapbook class this Tuesday, please RSVP by Monday so I can get your supplies cut! Thanks!

Monday Mojo #44

Here is my take on Julee's Monday Mojo sketch. I didn't even bother last week, but this one I was looking forward to getting to try. I'm not convinced that the flower pattern 'goes' with the argyle but they're all Rose Red so that makes it ok...I'm sure of it! LOL!

So yes, base of Rose Red card stock, a card front of Whisper White, with corners from the Rose Red Prints Paper. The flower print comes from Cutie Pie, which has been around for a while so it COULD retire, folks! I topped it with a White rectangle matted onto Rose Red, and then did the same with the circle piece. The heart comes from (the retiring) Time Well Spent and is stamped in Rose ink then colored with the Rose and So Saffron markers. The greeting comes from Sweet Thing, and I am going to miss using that!!! Then I just added three Rose buttons and that was that!

Lauren's two-fer!

Yep, Lauren posted a two-fer! She had a sketch AND color challenge! The sketch was easy for me, the colors were not. I do NOT care for Taken with Teal. I dunno, maybe I got burned out on it when it was HUGE in junior high...everybody loved Teal. And Burgundy. And both at the same time. Remember that? Well I do. So anyway, that one is hard for me to work with. The colors she listed were White, Teal, Sky and Guava. So here's what I did... The card is Whisper White. I stamped the circle from (the retiring!) Sweet Thing in Groovy Guava ink (also retiring!) to do the scalloped edge, but its on the inside of the card! I just trimmed a little off the front half! (here's a better view...)
Then I added a front of Guava card stock, and wrapped that with White grosgrain ribbon. The focal point is an image from the (retiring!) hostess set For A Friend. I inked the flower with Guava, the stem is Always Artichoke and the words are in Taken with Teal. I then swiped the White card stock edges in Guava ink, matted it onto some Teal card stock, and matted that on Soft Sky card stock! Super simple!

Get Whale Soon!

If Blogger will allow me to post pictures sometime today, you'll get to see my Whale card for Jen's Saturday Sketch to Try. Otherwise you'll just have to use your imagination! ha ha! I started by picking the patterned paper for the bigger square. I used this print from the Cutie Pie package. Beate once did a green whale with this stamp so I thought I'd choose him to go with the blue 'bubbles' and the green in the paper! The green in the paper is actually Certainly Celery, but I had wide Old Olive ribbon, so I matted both squares on Old Olive to tie that color in. I think Celery and Olive complement each other anyway. And since I had Olive ribbon stripeys, I used a card base of Bashful Blue, and then have Bashful brads to match that! I stamped the greeting in Old Olive ink, and colored the whale with my Watercolor wonder Crayons and Blender Pens. And there you have it! It worked!!!

Scrapping Fast!

So, my parents have hosted an exchange student for the past school year. We have been making a scrapbook for her to take home, highlighting the BIG events and doing the journaling for her so that, ya know, in 13 years when she pulls out her book she has a clue what she's talking about! (13 years ago ((what?!)) I was in Germany for about a month and I have no guesses what most of my pictures are of!) Now its crunch-time and we are literally just pumping out the pages as fast as we can to get it done in time. However, I have done two things in particular this past week or so that I am proud of! ha ha! Always good to share our accomplishments...
Look how pretty this girl turned out! I stamped her on Very Vanilla card stock and colored her with Watercolor Pencils and Blender Pens AND used markers too! Then I swiped all the torn edges in Creamy Caramel ink! I love it! ...and here's the entire page if you were interested. Not too impressive, but I just love that girl! Now this mountain...! Its retired but it still gets plenty of love around here! This particular site they stopped at is a multi-colored mountain. Hmm..... So! I used markers to do a top of More Mustard, then Close to Cocoa, then Chocolate Chip, and then the trees are in Garden Green! COOOOL! That was one of those moments where you step back and realize how smart you are sometimes! And then you laugh....because its very late at night and the Skittles are getting to you... And here's a shot of the rest of the super simple, rather plain page! ha ha! Now go do something impressive!

Taffy!

Its a late post, but at least its something! I helped my mom make these adorable bags of taffy! The abc set is retired and the little treat stamp is too, but I thought they were cute enough to share! (and an excellent way to use some of that bright Green Galore card stock! LOL!) Did you get a treat today?

More Catch-Up Sketches!

First this one from Lauren's blog, nearly a week ago! I'm not going to even point out all the issues, I'll just say this was my third try and this is as good as it gets! Apparently I DO shut down at night and my stamping just doesn't work out when its too late! Darnit... LOL! I do like the card, just wish it turned out a bit nicer. I cut it down to a 4x4 to make it more manageable and the base is Always Artichoke. I used Rose Red Prints designer paper for the bottom stripes as well as the back square. That is actually from the same sheet too- love that double sided-ness! Then I topped it with a Very Vanilla square. I stamped the dragonfly from Bugs & Kisses and I colored him with my Rose Red and Always Artichoke markers. Then I used one line from Boho Backgrounds for the greeting at the top. My row of buttons all match! Then, I saw this color challenge on Jen's blog and I had to try it. I picked the retired Cranberry Crisp for the dark red shade, and Soft Sky, (which is about to retire!) for the sky blue color. Love it, love it! I used my Daisy Crazy set and scattered little daisies with Versamark ink on the Soft Sky base. I have the wide Old Olive grosgrain ribbon topped with the fabulous Cranberry Crisp stitched grosgrain ribbon going down the side of the card. A tip? I use two mini glue dots to hold the ribbon in place on the front and then scotch tape on the back or the inside to hold the ends of ribbon down. No complaints yet! Anyway, the flowers are stamped with Old Olive and Cranberry inks, right on the Soft Sky card stock. I swiped the edges of that piece in Olive ink and matted it onto Cranberry card stock, and pierced down the side of that. This one turned out much better than the first. Guess which one I made first? LOL!

Weekend Sketch #53

Beate is taking the summer off so here is her last Weekend Sketch for a while. I thought I'd use it for a card I need for my nephew who earned his Eagle Scout award. Therefore my card is SUPER simple! I may play with this sketch again tho one of these days...! Anyway, for today's card, I have a base of Real Red and a layer of Whisper White. I stamped the eagle from the long retired Land That I Love set, in Chocolate Chip ink. I have some scattered Real Red stars (that are hard to see) on the top section. I left off the ribbon, and stamped the word from the (also long retired) Business Boosters set! I used the two biggest circle punches for that little accent. Then I took a hint from the OCC Buttons & Brads challenge HERE and added one silver brad and one Brilliant Blue button to add just a touch of personality.
