New Years Eve 2023

Happy New Years Eve!!!

I am not a "party person" but I actually love New Year's Eve. We have let the kids have a party with friends a few times, and they have gone to friends houses once or twice, or even an event at the church, but most years, its just our little family playing games and eating and often ending with a movie. That is my kind of party, hahaha.... And we *always let our kiddos stay up til midnight, or as late as they last, no matter how old they are. Because I'm crazy... haha.
How do you celebrate?

Sometime this summer, I made this digital layout of our last New Years Eve. But I saved it to share til it was more seasonally appropriate. hahaha.

I saw the card at the bottom right on facebook as a free download, and I liked the colors and the grungyness, so of course I snagged that. Then it became the title!
The base pages here are actually a tag I purchased with the very-long-retired MDS and zoomed WAAAAY in to, ha. But I love how it turned out.

The handy thing about digi scrapping is you make it once and print it however many times you need it, which matters when you make a book for everyone. In this case, the family got the second page and my youngest got the set, because the first page was really just her! Everyone else was doing their own thing most of this day. Actually, my middle child was pretty sick, but she spent the evening curled up on the couch "with" us, ha.

I hope you have a safe and happy celebration this year! Bring on 2025!

Tree Ornaments

Wrapping up the last of Christmas, here's another evening post! It's been quite a weekend... lots of good and a whole lotta not so good too....!

In place of a calendar this year for my family, I made photo ornaments instead.
Several years ago, like, sixteen, lol, my mom saw an idea to stick a photo on one side of a metal lid from a can of orange juice concentrate, and scrapbook paper on the other side, and I think you were supposed to edge it all in ribbon. I saved some lids for all these years but a- we don't drink a lot of juice in our house, and b- I just didn't have enough. I decided to do a "set" of all fifteen grandchildren for my parents, and then do coordinating ornaments of the kids in each household. Does that make sense? lol.... Well it meant I needed 30 lids. This fall when I was bottling pears, I thought the used mason jar lids would work really well! So I saved some of those instead of tossing them.

Then I pulled out my box of retired Christmas DP, haha,
and selected small prints that wouldn't overwhelm the photos. In some cases I used both sides of the DP for one ornament, in other cases I chose two different prints from the same pack to make each ornament.
Then I had to choose some coordinating ribbon.
I couldn't figure out what to do from what I remembered from years ago, ha, so I improvised and came up with my own plan. I also used my retired Circle Dies to cut out the DP. Then I trimmed corners to fit photos... I used my glue gun to attach the ribbon or string. I adhered the DP and photos using the Multipurpose Liquid Glue til I ran out, then I just used glue sticks. And after doing about 24 ornaments, I realized Dimensionals would work perfectly. ha. Holy cow....
And here's how my parents set turned out!

2025 Calendar 1

I hope your Christmas was safe and happy.
Now I can show gifts I made! ha!

This year I only made one calendar... I'm kind of burned out making them, and MDS is so out of date and buggy and so I made the easy one, because it's just my family and I don't have to find photos of all of my nieces and nephews, etc. So these pages are all for my FIL.

Cute Christmas Kiddos

Today is Christmas Sunday, and that is always a special day in our family. Today should be nice. I hope it is for you too.
I just wish it would snow... my youngest had a picnic in the back yard yesterday because it's been about 52* and sunny every day this week. Totally looks like October out there and not remotely the first day of winter.

I realized I had this colored bit sitting there, not yet used, so I glued it to a card! Crazy simple, ha. And that's the best kind...
Supplies:
Stamps: Dear Santa
Ink: Memento Black
Paper: Garden Green & Basic White card stocks, A Little Bit Festive DP
Accessories: Watercolor Pencils, Adhesive backed Peppermints

Christmas Cookies!

Yesterday was just so busy and got away from me entirely. I had to try to finish wrapping (I think I have three gifts left....) before my kiddo was out of school for the break. I had to bake gingerbread bars and pumpkin chocolate chip cookies. I had to do some cleaning for a kid's party, and I had to make what I hope was my last trip to the store, LOL! I am SO over shopping!

Today I have made another batch of gingerbread bars, and I had this idea to use my regular chocolate chip cookie recipe, but chop up a Chocolate Orange instead of chips. YUM. I delivered (and had kids deliver...) a bunch of plates to neighbors and friends, and still have more... I am getting laundry done before Christmas (crazy me...) and all the other things!

So today tonight? I have this cute card for you! I used the TGIF Challenge for cookies, and it was *inspired by the Freshly Made Sketch, lol. I just don't like the long skinny cards so I dropped an ornament for mine. haha....

Stampin' Blends: Dark & Light Cherry Cobbler, Light Granny Apple Green, Bronze, Ivory, Light Flirty Flamingo, Light Balmy Blue, Light Petal Pink

Today's card is fun because it could be for Christmas, but *I am going to use it for a birthday card!

Icy Christmas!

We have only had a couple very small snow storms this year, and boy are we missing it! The only snow in our yard fell just before Thanksgiving, I think, and it's next to the side of the fence that the winter sun doesn't reach. I don't reeally want an icy Christmas, but it would be good to have some snow for my kids to refresh driving in close to home, before they go back to the 45 min freeway commute to college in a few weeks...! Plus the snow makes winter a lot more fun. 21* with dead grass and dead leaves is not super fun to play in...

And, this little guy makes me giggle.
Supplies:
Stamps: Dear Santa
Ink: Memento Black, Blueberry Bushel
Stampin' Blends: Bronze, Ivory, Dark & Light Night of Navy, Dark & Light Balmy Blue, Dark & Light Granny Apple Green, Dark Daffodil Delight, Light Petal Pink

Sweet!

I finally got a little time to play with the other kiddos in this cute Christmas set!
THIS is the card I envisioned as soon as I saw it, with this exact stripy DP and these super cute candies. But noooo...! the candy embellishments were sold out for AGES and would pop in and out frequently before I got my hands on it! And I was done holding classes for the year by then... rats.
Well, I got to make the card anyway, even if my customers didn't. And I rather love it.

Christmas Dressups

I hope your December is going well. Ours has been very busy, lots of happy, and now a little sickie...but that means more time for Christmas movies, so okay.

Today's page is crazy simple, and features some of the school dress up days my daughter participated in throughout December. There were a lot, and she wasn't able to do everything, and I think she was sick one of the days, but when she could participate, we got a picture, ha!
Supplies:
Stamps: Just Perfect Alpha
Ink: Garden Green
Paper: Granny Apple Green c/s, Merry Bold & Bright DP
Accessories: Pearlized Doilies

What do you think about these kinds of days? I think she's gonna wear those wire Cindy Lou Who antenna her whole school life, thanks. haha!

Fancy Fold Paper Pumpkin

Happy Monday!
Today I have the October Paper Pumpkin kit. I've used the words a number of times, haha, including in my last two classes, but I finally sat down to make the kit.

But...I don't like fancy folds...
Annnd I like the alternate ideas better than the designed ideas. (for alternate ideas, go to the Paper Pumpkin facebook page)
Annnd I usually cut the pretty paper card bases in half anyway to make more cards, haha... It makes me crazy to use pretty paper on the back of a card! It feels wasteful.

So for today, here is one of each design as it was intended. ha.
Almost. I made one a sympathy card, because I needed one of those...

Busy December Day!

This layout is chaotic, and all one day, ha. We tend to have a lot of days like that in December....
This one shows her dressed up for Grinch day at school, then some treats from her teacher. Then we went to see a play of A Christmas Carol, and we got a yummy, special dinner. Then my husband's car needed jumped! And finally a bedtime story with her dad. ha. I don't usually scrap entire days, unless its a vacation or something, but here you go!

Stamps: Whimsical Upper, Lower & Numbers (retired!)

Gingerbread House

Happy Saturday! Still trucking along on this very busy week! I hope you're enjoying the festivities too!

Once again, I have old photos for today's scrapping. And once again, I have almost identical pages for my two kids. This time I used a Paper Pumpkin kit from 2020 to add to the gingerbread house theme.

Ink: Cinnamon Cider (retired)
Paper: Shaded Spruce, Basic White, Powder Pink(retired) card stocks
Accessories: November 2020 Paper Pumpkin Kit

Christmas Sunday

The Sunday before Christmas is one we try to keep extra special. These photos are a few years old, but they highlight a few of our Christmas Sunday traditions.

This layout was actually a CASE or Scraplift of a scrappy friend, which is why I mixed DP's, which is something I rarely do. I like the result tho!

Another Piney Leftovers!

Here's another of those precut leftovers and pines, haha! I really like these pine trees! And this phrase from Shepherds Care! (and it totally works with a piney forest!!)

This card set was cut to make THIS. I flipped some elements and ended up with this:

A Christmas Carol

Look- a third scrapbook layout in a row using more current supplies! Crazy! The stamps are retired tho.

Most years we go see a play of A Christmas Carol. This was 2021- masks were "suggested" and we used them because our youngest had a relentless cough, even tho she was no longer sick. Yeay for scrapping reality...
But since it was Dickens, I thought this DP with old, traditional fireplaces was perfect. ...and then I covered up most of it.... lame. haha...

Supplies:
Stamps: Welcome Christmas (long retired)
Ink: Mossy Meadow
Paper: Mossy Meadow card stock, Traditions of St Nick DP
Journaling Font: Garamond

Here's a close up of the DP- the fireplace sheet, and the Christmas treats sheet.
