Upcoming Card Class!

Yes, I got some stamping done! I've also been swamped with other things, had a computer virus take over my computer (and the rebuild involved with that) and ya know, all the other things going on in my life. So maybe I can get a few blog posts up before the end of the month, lol.

I have a customer who keeps requesting wedding and baby cards, but most of my other customers don't need many of those. This card is pretty enough for a wedding, but its also fitting for a nice birthday, thank you or thinking of you type card. That means anyone who attends the class can find a way to use it! I've got a class this coming Friday, and this is one of the cards we'll be making!

With the retiring stamps and other products, my card display board for workshops is quite bare. It holds I think 40 cards and I am now lacking 30! Yikes! So I have a lot of work to get my board full...! But its the best kind of work, I think.

At this moment I think I have enough cards photographed to fill this blog for the next three weeks! Never mind football, tt has been such a fun, crafty weekend! Friday night I was filling orders and my display board. Saturday morning I got to participate in a great upline meeting, with gorgeous make & takes and ideas!! Then this morning I was finishing orders, and now have LOTS to show!

Thankful

Happy November! My family and I will begin our Thankful Can later this evening. In anticipation, I've been thinking about some things. And my favorite stranger-blog belongs to Meg who the other day posted a give-away if you left a comment with the positive thoughts you tell yourself when times are hard. I commented that I try to keep my faith in God and remind myself that so far, it could always be worse. And minutes after posting that comment I remembered something else.

It seems to me that sometimes we don't know why we're going thru a trial until we find a friend going thru the same thing. Have you noticed that people are put in your path who have already made it through whatever you're experiencing? I have. So maybe when we are struggling it is simply so we can help someone else later. Even if that help is "only" sympathy and a listening ear, it helps me knowing that someone made it through to the other side, and I can too. So today I am thankful for trials that make me a better person and allow me to help others.

On that note, here's a thank you card I made to kick off November.

Note Cards

Thanksgiving is coming. Last November our family did a Thankful Can where we drew out something to be thankful for each day. My kids have already asked when we're going to start that again! Yeay! So here are four quick note cards I put together (in Becky's style) last night for them to use when they need to send a thank you to someone this month. I loved the rich autumny colors. And its nice and chilly here to remind us that autumn has arrived!

You stick the glue dot in the middle of the bigger button, and sprinkle glitter on that! Nifty, huh?

A Calendar

This weekend my mom and I worked on a scrappy calendar for a Christmas gift. Stampin' Up! no longer carries these calendars, but the new My Digital Studio software has the ability to create calendars...! Or, you can make your own pages, write up or print off a blank calendar, and then bind it yourself! Anyway, the calendar wasn't 100% done when I had to leave, but I photo'd what we got... The emphasis of the photos was based on the birthday of the month, or the anniversary, and the stamps we chose was based on the month itself. Soft Autumn

This card uses colors from the OCC weekend challenge. I thought it would make a lovely, autumny birthday card! I love this set too- sweet and simple! Pretty Silhouettes

I finished up the last two card sketches last night! This is good- I got four more cards for my display board, and one to mail off! Yeay!

So first up the more earthy colors...

I don't have any current DP so I made my own using the greeting! I swiped the edges of the Old Olive card stock for some texture... I don't have a scallopy oval so I used the Mat Pack around the oval for a little extra dimension. And I used paper instead of ribbon on the sides!

Card 2

This one uses one of Julee's sketches, and the colors come from Dawn's Raspberry Suite's Color Challenge! I think this is the first time I've followed thru playing with her color schemes, even tho I like them a lot! (you've noticed its been crazy 'round here)

Anyway, I liked the colors for this big gorgeous flower from Embrace Life...I thought it would work really well for a tropical flower with veins of interesting and slightly contrasting color. The red circle seems a little thrown in there, but there is red in the flower, I promise. Supplies: Stamps: Embrace Life, Priceless, Pocket Silhouettes

Cards!

I told you I've been busy...well, I got the big project done so last night while the kids were enjoying a video from the library, I got a few cards made! I have a lot going on this month, in terms of birthdays, weddings and other card-giving events. So whether I use these or just put these in my stock in place of what I give...I needed some cards! LOL!

This first one uses two challenges I haven't gotten to play with in a LONG time! The Whiff of Joy Wednesday challenge was to make a friendship card. I used Taylor's Cupcake Challenge for the card sketch. And discovered a really cute way to make a punched tulip! aww...!

This one uses Jen's Saturday Sketch For You To Try from *last week*... because it took til Friday night to get it done! haha! its a very simple card, but I like it.

Wanna know a secret? I scuffed the edges with ink because the clock stamp picked up ink on the parts that are supposed to stay white! Its the first time that happened and I am pretty sure its because I used a Stampin' Spot instead of a full size pad. Thank goodness for easy fixes!

Wow. This weekend makes crazy sound calming. So Many Things. I did get to two parks with my kiddos and that was good. But I am beat and really ready to just go back to bed for the rest of the week. Between the allergies and the snow I am just not sure I am ready to tackle today! But here we go...! And we can definitely blame the snow for the lousy photos....

35 Card Class!

Good morning! Today is the last day to turn in your $16 fee to attend my class next weekend! Here are just a few of the cards we'll be making... We're using new stamps, new papers, and new accessories, plus you go home with 35 card for any occasion you need! Hope you'll join us!

New Favorite

There are still plenty of stamp sets on my wish list and I hope to be acquiring them VERY soon. In the meantime, this set has bumped up to my favorite! Its a Level 1 Hostess set and originally I got it to make me stretch. :) But I seriously love how pretty it is and how easy it is to use!

This particular card is for a double challenge on SCS with Verve stamps. Julee makes fabulous stamps but I really love the sketches she does, so I thought I'd check out the Verve forum for the first time in much too long. So this was a sketch, with a color challenge of any pink, any red and any green. I wasn't sure how to use those colors together to start, but I LOVE how this turned out!
