Card Class!

Yesterday's card class was almost forgotten, I've been so busy!! But I had people coming and threw together a few ideas they hadn't made yet, even if you've already seen them here, lol!

I picked a birthday theme because March is my birthday and there's not a major holiday. (As fun as St Patrick's Day is, if you want to make cards for it, you'll have to buy your own supplies...!) and because birthday cards are always good to have on hand!

Get "Whale"!

Get well cards are one type I don't make very many of. However, a friend of mine (who also works with me in cub scouts) recently had knee surgery that ended up worse than expected, so I thought this might cheer her up a little. I made the card and let the cub scouts write a note inside, hee hee.

haha! I made a card very similar to this one a long time ago, and thought it would be fun to make another. This follows the sketch from the Clean & Simple blog, sketch 127. Simple and cute!
And yes, I know my skunk stripe is black but that's easier than turning the whole critter black... lol!

Demonstrating Crayons

So, my very favorite way to color in images is with my Watercolor Wonder Crayons. Plus I love to use them on bold stamps! I LOVE that there is versatility! Whoo!

And finally, here is how the Valentines for my son's class turned out. We stuck these tootsie pops in a small hole I punched on the fold and used scotch tape on the blank side of the inside of the card. Wanna know something funny about the lollipops? The bag says cherry flavored and the ingredients only include strawberry powder....... hee hee!

Little Valentines!

My computer was down all day yesterday or I would already have mailed these. (needed the address) These are what I am sending to Julie's mom (read HERE) to give to the Children's Hospital. They're just little 3x3 notes, but perfect for kids. Three of the designs are also what I'm sending to school with my son to give.

Also, I was able to get a fair amount of stamping done in the last two days, so I have posts ready! Hooray! One way or another this is going to become a regular occurrence again! LOL!

Stinky Pink!

I left off the circle part...didn't know what to do there. Actually, if I had a big flower from the Pretties Kit that would have worked well, especially tinted pink! O well.... this is what I have. hee hee!

Yes, we all need to sometimes. Or lots of times. Especially us mom's. This one anyway! *wink*

Eve had this great color challenge on her blog and I really wanted to play along. The colors to me seemed campy and its raining here and I love being in the mountains when it rains. (like, in a car or a rodent-free cabin, not like walking thru the mtns...!) So! I went for a soft, relaxing feel. I could totally relax in a *quiet* cabin, watching the rain and sipping hot cocoa!!! Let's go..!

The SU! colors I thought were closest to those she showed are Mellow Moss, Always Artichoke, Very Vanilla, Creamy Caramel and Chocolate Chip. The only thing I added was a touch of pink to the hearts on the mug. I did a lot of sponging to make it softer.

Little Lamb, Birthday & Thanksgiving!

In spite of working on other projects and having too much going on yesterday, I managed to get some stamping done last night!!! Hooray! LOL! Recently our friend's daughter was baptised and we had to miss it. I thought we could still send her a card so this is what I made, using Julee's Mojo Monday Sketch #52. I thought this lamb image was perfect for the occasion and took my card colors from the way I colored it. Somewhere I saw the lamb done in So Saffron, so that's what I did here. This is also a 4 1/4 square card.

I used Lauren's Saturday Sketch for the design behind my grandmother's birthday card. I totally cheated on that square focal point....I used my big square punch for the Pumpkin 'frame', and then used it to make reference points on the stamped paper, and then used my exacto knife to cut out the Vanilla piece with the flowers! (You get creative when you don't own all the fun tools- no second-larger square punch! LOL!)

My final card uses a cool technique I'd never tried! The sketch is from Jen's Saturday Sketch and the reason I thought of this particular technique (Joseph's Coat) is because Andrea just did a tutorial on her blog HERE. I had to take the modifications a step further because I also do not own the brayer. My mom does...! Anyway, so here's a fancy Thanksgiving card!

And just because inquiring minds want to know.... THIS is a heat tool.

You plug it in, heat it up for a few seconds and point at your embossing powder til it melts. Super cool technique!

Graduating!

That's right, my son decided it was time he graduated to layered cards!!! This is cute. It's a big step...and I do believe it promises to be a headache for the remainder of my days! LOL!

He came in and asked to make a card for his uncle (my brother on a mission). Sure...why not? He browsed my stamp...disaster...for a few minutes, picked up this card and asked if he could make one just like it. Uhhh....maybe? He told me which colors he wanted for which pieces and chose a different animal from Pun Fun. And HERE is his creation!

It just cracks me up! I enjoy him stamping "with" me, it keeps him occupied and gives him a creative outlet and I can keep an eye on him....but now he wants to actually use my supplies...! *gasp!* ...but it makes me laugh too. He just knows he can do better than the standard half sheet of white paper. Good for him!

Warm soup makes it better!

Or at least that's what my card says! (I actually don't care for most soups...just potato and tomato, and I HAVE to be in the mood for it!) I thought this was a cute kind of get-well thing. I used the latte mug image from Pun Fun and paired it with the closest thinking-of-you word I have! The layout comes from Jen's Saturday sketch. I thought it looked fun and quick, but it was a little more difficult that I'd anticipated.

I started by picking the pink dotty paper actually, and then needed something that would look nice with pink accents! So I have a Pretty in Pink base, a card front of Close to Cocoa, the side pieces are from the Hostess Paper Pkg, the main image is matted on Pretty in Pink card stock and I have Pink gingham ribbon going across the bottom. I stamped the images in Chocolate Chip, colored the hearts and "soup" with Watercolor Crayons.

Hopefully tomorrow I'll have caught up on sketches and challenges and all those fun things that keep me stamping!

A happy skunk

Today is Wednesday. I have not stamped since Friday. Lately, its really been one of those times where it seems the only cleaning happening around here is me cleaning up a disaster from one of my kids. Does that happen in your house too? So right now, I am escaping the position of Damage Control Officer and stamping something!

I used Julee's Mojo Monday sketch to get me started. This isn't exactly her sketch, but it is close. And then I have kwerner's Color Challenge for the other half of the card! LOL! Oh, and I used Jamie's cute paper- 'thread' idea on the button. CASE'ing all over the place tonight! I used this cute skunk from Pun Fun and I haven't pulled that set out in a while. Its a pretty simple card, but it was a good return to stamping. ...and finally, a Hunter-ism: He wouldn't sit still for quiet time and finally said "But Mom, I'm just so hungry!" My answer was something like "You know, I really don't think you are, I think you're just the king of excuses right now." "MOM! I am the king of trains! Not 'scuses!'

Get Whale Soon!

If Blogger will allow me to post pictures sometime today, you'll get to see my Whale card for Jen's Saturday Sketch to Try. Otherwise you'll just have to use your imagination! ha ha! I started by picking the patterned paper for the bigger square. I used this print from the Cutie Pie package. Beate once did a green whale with this stamp so I thought I'd choose him to go with the blue 'bubbles' and the green in the paper! The green in the paper is actually Certainly Celery, but I had wide Old Olive ribbon, so I matted both squares on Old Olive to tie that color in. I think Celery and Olive complement each other anyway. And since I had Olive ribbon stripeys, I used a card base of Bashful Blue, and then have Bashful brads to match that! I stamped the greeting in Old Olive ink, and colored the whale with my Watercolor wonder Crayons and Blender Pens. And there you have it! It worked!!!

Be Inspired Challenge #11

You take the time you have...and I have midnight. My daughter got sick today and has had flu symptoms. Imagine my joy. She's fallen asleep 4 times on the couch since about 345 this afternoon, so I'm FINALLY getting a chance to make my card from Beate's inspiration piece. It looked like a fun party kind of card, so here's this little birthday bird from Pun Fun. Then I used some already punched bright circles and did a few more. I framed the bird in a black square because he definitely needed colored. I used my Pumpkin, Orchid and Turquoise ink pads with blender pens to color him. The circles are Orchid Opulence, Green Galore, Pink Passion, Summer Sun, Pumpkin Pie and Tempting Turquoise.
Annnd now that I'm looking, mine is the same basic idea as Charmaine's! Good for me! haha!
I'm going to bed now, in my nice clean sheets- the one thing I got done today that was in my original plan!
