Mixing Old & New!

The stamps are old, the brad is old, the colors are brand-spankin-new! My friend is having a baby and another friend and I have decided to throw her a shower. The real host was sweet enough to suggest I make the invites (love advertising my biz) so here it is!
Supplies:
Stamps: Welcome Little One, Sweet Thing (both LONG retired!)
Ink: Island Indigo ink pad & marker, Lucky Limeade marker, Pool Party marker, Basic Black
Paper: Lucky Limeade, Pool Party, Island Indigo & Whisper White card stocks
Accessories: Kiwi Kiss corduroy brad (long retired), computer generated text
~~~~~
When making a bunch of the same thing, its easiest to cut out one whole thing at a time. Like the Indigo mat....cut them all out together.
and I mixed up the colors on the baby's clothes and blanket for a little variation. I wasn't sure what I liked best so I just kept being random.
I think they turned out pretty cute.
...and I'm now certain the baby will be blond, lol!
A class that's perfect for anyone!
Here are 12 cards I will be offering at at class in August. I used almost half of the Playful Polka Dots Simply Scrappin' Kit (found on page 15 of the Summer Mini!) to make them all. These are such fun, summery cards, perfect for any occasion!
If you attend, or host this class I will provide five word sets and 4 coordinating ink colors for you to use as you like. However, if you live far away, you can still participate! I can prep the cards, give detailed instructions with photos, and mail it to you as a kit. All you need are word stamps and ink! I can suggest a word set to purchase, and even just one coordinating ink will work, if you'd like to place a small order!
The price of the class is only $12, and you get to keep what is left on the sticker sheets! If you are participating long distance, I will charge you for shipping, but you can do it any time you like!
Congrats!
This card could be used for any congratulatory occasion, but I made it for a baby shower gift! The DP is very, very old - some of the first I purchased from Stampin' Up!, but I love that soft purple flower print for baby girls! And its almost gone so that's good too! hee hee!
I wasn't totally sure how to make the banner thing. I wasn't sure if I should fold it or what exactly to do. So its a white strip of card stock with the flagged ends, and then the turquoise layer is mounted with Dimensionals,so that it appears raised, like that kind of banner would be! The flower is three layers- the turquoise layer, the other DP bit and white vellum to make the DP softer.
Supplies:
Stamps: Swirls & Curls
Ink: Basic Black, Elegant Eggplant marker
Paper: Whisper White, & Tempting Turquoise card stock, White Vellum, Sweet DP (RETIRED)
Accessories: Fancy Flower Punch, Bright Buttons, Dimensionals
A Catalog CASE
You do know the catalog is really called the Idea Book & Catalog, right? This is becuase it is bursting full of ideas! Today's card is based almost entirely off the card found at the top of page 168. I left off a layer of card stock, because I used textured Old Olive and liked it. I also swapped the bird image for the cage, and changed the "strips" across the top, but its darn close!
I stamped the bird onto the Pool Party card stock, and then stamped it on white to color and cut out. ...I've mentioned before that I dislike cutting...I still do. hee hee....!
Supplies:
Stamps: Nature Walk, Thoughts & Prayers
Ink: Old Olive, Basic Black
Paper: Pool Party, Whisper White and Textured Old Olive card stocks
Accessories: Watercolor Wonder Crayons, Linen Thread, Corner Rounder Punch
Clean & Simple!
Since the new catalog came out and so many stamps and products retired, I had to clear off my display board I use at workshops and events. But once it was clear, I had thirty empty spots!!! That meant that for my workshop this past weekend I was cruising trying to get cards made to fill it. I didn't quite, but managed to hide the empty spots with stamp sets for sale and the rest of items on display. *wink.
Here is one of the many cards I threw together:
I didn't color it yet because ya know...you can't give blond parents a dark haired card, lol, but one of my workshop attendants liked it plain, in the black & white.
Supplies:
Stamps: All in the Family
Ink: Basic Black
Paper: Baja Breeze, Chocolate Chip & Whisper White card stocks
Accessories: White grosgrain ribbon
What style is this?
Vintage? Shabby Chic? those are the words that come to my mind. I love the style that I see so many demos use, with lots of fun, beautiful little details and products. This is mostly a product of the DP I used, but I also did the crumpling of the ribbon and stuff. Anyway, I really like it, and it totally stretched me out of my comfort zone.
Supplies:
Stamps: Artistic Etchings
Ink: Basic Black, Soft Suede, Crumb Cake, More Mustard
Paper: Soft Suede & Whisper White card stocks, Well Worn DP
Accessories: Mini Vintage Tags, Vintage Trinkets, Victoria Crochet Ribbon, Mini Glue Dots, Stamping Sponge
New Paper!!
Okay, so the biggest draw for me to Stampin' Up! way back when was that they had BOY stuff. I had a son, I'd just finished scrapbooking my one of my younger brothers life up to that point and craft stores had nothing for boys but car stickers, and red, blue, orange and green card stock.
....and when they pass the stage of primary-colored rounded-cars...what shall we use??
This new catalog from Stampin' Up! has stamps for boys of ALL ages. Seriously, I cannot wait to get my hands on the Tool Shed background stamp for my dad! And the Need for Speed set is perfect for my brothers' birthday/fathers day cards! And my son keeps growing up on me (rude!) and no longer wants the cute trains or zoo animals that I have. So in my baby steps to acquire it all (ROFL), I purchased this fabulous, new Well Worn DP for boy/man projects. Check out the fabulous prints!
and created a scrapbook layout for my son at my workshop yesterday using it!
Supplies:
Stamps: Under the Stars
Ink: Early Espresso
Paper: Well Worn DP, Not Quite Navy, Early Espresso, Cajun Craze card stocks
Accessories: Twill Tape
now all I need is the Daring Adventure stamp set, the denim ribbons, the mini brads..........and then I can make the adorable things found on page 144! And my boys will love it as much as me! :D
July Newsletter Information!
Here's an excerpt from my stamp newsletter I email each month:
  • You’ll want to know about the new hostess rewards program! Now when you host a workshop, you earn hostess dollars. These dollars can be spent on the exclusive hostess stamp sets (now with a listed price- but only purchase-able with hostess dollars) or any products in the catalog! Once you reach a $400 workshop, you can choose items for 50% off!
  • The starter kit has been updated! If you’re interested in running your own business, or simply getting a discount on your crafting supplies, joining Stampin’ Up! is a great idea. There are two standard options listed in the back of the catalog. But during July there’s a mini starter kit promotion available! For only $99 you can get a smaller starter kit, start your own business, join my team AND get a free Christmas Keepsake Project!
The best part of “New Catalog Season” is a chance to play with new products! I will be holding an open house from 3-5 PM, on July 9th, at my house, and everyone is invited! Come when you can, stay as long as you like! Here’s some of what you’ll get to see and do:
· Booking Incentives! (a free gift to anyone who sets a date to host a workshop with me!)
· New samples to inspire you!
· Yummy treats!
*I am also hoping to start up a new Stamp Club. This is when you commit to spending a given amount each month for a set period of time, and one of the months YOU are the hostess! If this interests you, please let me know. The number of club members determines the monthly cost...
And here's a fun, summer kind of card! I used Jen's July Sketch For You To Try to make this card, and the beautiful Strength & Hope stamp set.
