Mother's Day cards

At my church I am one of the leaders over the 8-11 year old girls, for their bi-monthly activity. At our last activity we helped them make bath salts and cards for their mothers, as a Mother's Day gift.
(I really don't know much about the bath salts, my daughter is in this same group and didn't want me to see what she did, so I really just stayed with the cards, haha.)

I used up long-retired products for the girls to make cards with, and provided three designs. I prepped seven sets of each card and we still had a couple left over from each design, so that worked out great. And then my kids used a few of the leftover kits to make cards for their grandmothers! Super handy!

Even tho its completely retired, I thought I'd go ahead and share them here since I put time and effort in to it. *grin I just had to wait til after Mother's Day in case any of their mom's check my blog...which they might...!

A sunset!

This card is not so much distressed, as we used sponges to create a scene of sorts. But our fingers sure got messy, so I thought it fit into a distressed class. haha!
Its really such a simple thing...First we stamped the flowers. I punched a circle out of scratch paper, and laid the paper with the hole in it onto the paper with the flowers. We sponged it with Daffodil Delight for a nice, hot yellow. Then we put the punched circle on the yellow sun using Dotto because its removable and super handy like that! And we sponged the So Saffron and the shades of orange. I had Cherry Cobbler out too, but it didn't seem like it was going to work out after all. So we left it off! *grin!
Supplies:
Stamps: Upsy Daisy
Ink: Early Espresso, Daffodil Delight (sun), So Saffron, Peach Parfait, Tangerine Tango
Paper: Peach Parfait, Early Espresso, Very Vanilla card stocks
Accessories: Early Espresso quilted satin ribbon (retired!)

*The ribbon IS retired. bad me!

A pretty birthday card

Today was my birthday card class! Since there are 5 cards I now have a few blog posts ready to inspire you! hee hee. It is often said that one great thing about being a demonstrator is that there are SO MANY ideas available to us and we don't have to think up our own. This class was certainly one time I needed that! Most of the time I create my own design, and many times I use sketches as a jumping off point. While I did have ideas swimming around in my head, I had a very hard time finding the creative energy to create cards for this class...so I turned to the Stampin' Up! demonstrator website for ideas. I searched for an idea to use the Upsy Daisy stamp set and tweaked a card I found to make this:
Supplies:
Stamps: Upsy Daisy
Ink: Wisteria Wonder, Elegant Eggplant
Paper: Wisteria Wonder, Elegant Eggplant, Lucky Limeade, Whisper White card stocks

Newly Retired Items!

The supplies on this card only retired at the beginning of this month, and with such pretty autumny colors make a perfect Thank You card, any time of year! I used Jen's SSFYTT sketch for January for the layout. The night I put together this project I was all about the DP and the punches...can you tell? It's a simple card and the DP really makes it what it is.

Stamps: Upsy Daisy
Ink: Early Espresso
Paper: More Mustard & Very Vanilla card stocks, Spice Cake DP (retired)

I think today is the hottest forecasted day of the year so far. I think I'll spend it picking fruit and canning jam...or maybe I'll just go hide in my craft area and make things...LOL!

In the meantime, here's a card I put together the other day, for my Dad's birthday actually. I used THIS sketch, and the retiring coordinating DP. Inspiration!

I haven't been very motivated to be creative lately. I was flipping thru the demo magazine and browsing blogs and was totally inspired by THIS POST on Kristina Werner's blog. Masculine Birthday Cards

Just in case I haven't mentioned (giggle) that I had a big event in October and had a lot of left over cut card supplies, let me re-iterate. I had plenty of extra left overs but used all the bases that applied to my Christmas cards from the left over pile. But I still had the same extra focal pieces. So, see this card?

I used that same bit for the focal image and created these cards:
Supplies:
Stamps: Uncharted Territory, Upsy Daisy, Thoughts & Prayers, Sentimental Journey (retired), Happiness is A Journey (retired)
Ink: Night of Navy, Cherry Cobbler, Wild Wasabi
Paper: Bashful Blue, Cherry Cobbler, Wild Wasabi, Night of Navy, Crumb Cake
Accessories: Neutral Brads, Mat Pack

A new theme!

Yep, Christmas is over. Did you enjoy yours? I hope so. We had a lovely Christmas and it wasn't stormy for travel, yeay!

One of the gifts I was working on was a stack of birthday cards for my MIL. My husband is the youngest of a large family and each of his siblings have their own family and some of them are old enough for their own family, etc. The point is, from his parents down the family is over 100 people strong. Really. And his parents send a birthday card to each and every member of this family. So I wanted to help make a dent in that! *grin

Unfortunately (for them) I only got 35 done. Fortunately for you, that means a couple new things to see! We'll start with these:
This uses Pear Pizzaz as the base, the DP and the marker color for the tray the cupcakes are on. I did one almost the same with Blushing Bride, but that photo won't load right now...

Peach & Pumpkin!

Are you ready for my classes to start up again? I sure am!!! I have missed you all this summer! So this week I'll post a few sneak peeks to my August Class! This is the first!

I used a fun little color combination. I have the brand new Peach Parfait ink and ribbon, with Pumpkin Pie card stock and ink for the words. Very Vanilla is the card front. I also used my new level 3 hostess set for the words! Yeay!
