Card Class!

Yesterday's card class was almost forgotten, I've been so busy!! But I had people coming and threw together a few ideas they hadn't made yet, even if you've already seen them here, lol!

I picked a birthday theme because March is my birthday and there's not a major holiday. (As fun as St Patrick's Day is, if you want to make cards for it, you'll have to buy your own supplies...!) and because birthday cards are always good to have on hand!

A Spring Card!

I don't know about your neck of the woods but I am tired of snow. So very tired of it. And the single digit temps. That could end too. So how about we pretend its spring with our creating?! I am alllll over that!!

At my workshop last weekend, the girls really liked this stamp set in the catalog, so here's a sample with it for you! These petals are my favorite to use. I just do two petals straight across from each other until I've made a circle. Then I cover the center with something. Usually a punched circle, but a button is cuter!

Another question I got last week was how to use the mat pack. You can poke holes in these little dots, or, you can do this:

Make dots with a marker, and then draw the little lines to make it look like stitching! (yes, its called faux stitching).

So! That's me continuing my workshop a week later! Did you learn anything? how do you like the ink on my fingers? haha....

Eternal winter...

is making me absolutely crazy. its snowed hard two days this week, rained most of the day yesterday and every thing is muddy and gray. I am usually one to be grateful for the water because I can't stand living in drought conditions. But its April 17th and still winter...lets move on now! We have Spring Break right now, and between a sick child AGAIN and the obnoxious snow, this one is not quite as fun as last year... But since I have a big card class tonight and have spent the last two evenings prepping, today will be spent with my kids. We might play some games or do some puzzles...I don't know. But something FUN is definitely required.

In the meantime, here is a new, SPRING card to show, now that I've given it to my friend, lol! It was for a challenge on SCS to use soft yellow, soft blue and soft brown, and also uses the sketch from OCC last week. Supplies:

Easter!

Truly I haven't stamped anything til this evening. My nice, quiet, family weekend went a little bananas, but I got some photos printed so I could work on my April pages! (Typing this up late Monday night and as soon as I'm done I have to go tackle the 6 loads of laundry some silly person dumped on my bed. Oh wait...that was probably me....rats!) (edited to add correct challenge info!) I started this month off with Jennifer's CAS Sketch, plus I used the OCC Challenge to do an Easter project. ...you know, from last year! *wink* Tho I have several other years I could have chosen to work on.... THIS is why I need this group! LOL! So, Jennifer's sketch had a twist that you had to use stamping on your page. hee hee, here's my secret- I got into stamping because it was cheaper than stickers for scrapbooking! YEAY! That's a simple challenge for me! I loved her layout too because its unique, which is what I am looking for right now doing my pages. Anyway, here's the page, and I will add journaling later, beneath the title. Sketches!

Happy calm day with no where to go! Actually, we really did have somewhere to be, but Burt has a cold and a headache and my allergies are still crazy so we stayed home. Its ok, we're getting some rest and I got TWO cards made! (I'm even hoping to make some more...!)

First I have Beate's Weekend Sketch. It isn't quite what I had in my head, but it still turned out nice. For the tag, I stamped the words one by one and then sponged over the entire thing, and then used the direct-to-paper technique on the edges. Funny how springy it is with Christmas on my brain....

A Sketch Challenge!

Here is my take on Jen's Saturday Sketch. (I did it Saturday but thought I'd spread my posts around!) This one was a lot of fun for me and I used some more designer paper! hooray! (that means room for more you know...!)

I used a Certainly Celery card stock base, then Cutie Pie paper for the bottom strip and top corner. The circles are flowers from the Pick A Petal set, and I stamped them in So Saffron ink. I stuck Rose Red buttons in the center and touched the edges of the circles in the Rose Red ink. The greeting comes from Time Well Spent and I stamped that in Celery and colored the flowers with my So Saffron marker. I also mounted the greeting onto Rose Red card stock. So there you have it! Have a fabulous Memorial Day!

Something New

Isn't it great when you surprise yourself? I made this card becuase I have an empty spot on my display board. I got my new Pumpkin Pie ink pad for Christmas and have really tried to use my new colors more. I haven't had much luck with this stamp set becuase I don't like having the petals all random and detached, but lining them up is pretty difficult- and I'm not a perfectionist! So I was pleasantly surprised to find that this try worked and looks great! I used Real Red for the outline petal, which says Smile, then Old Olive was just the paper- punched the center and used for the card base.
