Monday Mojo #44

Here is my take on Julee's Monday Mojo sketch. I didn't even bother last week, but this one I was looking forward to getting to try. I'm not convinced that the flower pattern 'goes' with the argyle but they're all Rose Red so that makes it ok...I'm sure of it! LOL!

So yes, base of Rose Red card stock, a card front of Whisper White, with corners from the Rose Red Prints Paper. The flower print comes from Cutie Pie, which has been around for a while so it COULD retire, folks! I topped it with a White rectangle matted onto Rose Red, and then did the same with the circle piece. The heart comes from (the retiring) Time Well Spent and is stamped in Rose ink then colored with the Rose and So Saffron markers. The greeting comes from Sweet Thing, and I am going to miss using that!!! Then I just added three Rose buttons and that was that!

Lauren's two-fer!

Yep, Lauren posted a two-fer! She had a sketch AND color challenge! The sketch was easy for me, the colors were not. I do NOT care for Taken with Teal. I dunno, maybe I got burned out on it when it was HUGE in junior high...everybody loved Teal. And Burgundy. And both at the same time. Remember that? Well I do. So anyway, that one is hard for me to work with. The colors she listed were White, Teal, Sky and Guava. So here's what I did... The card is Whisper White. I stamped the circle from (the retiring!) Sweet Thing in Groovy Guava ink (also retiring!) to do the scalloped edge, but its on the inside of the card! I just trimmed a little off the front half! (here's a better view...)
Then I added a front of Guava card stock, and wrapped that with White grosgrain ribbon. The focal point is an image from the (retiring!) hostess set For A Friend. I inked the flower with Guava, the stem is Always Artichoke and the words are in Taken with Teal. I then swiped the White card stock edges in Guava ink, matted it onto some Teal card stock, and matted that on Soft Sky card stock! Super simple!

Two Sketches

Got some stamping done! First I have my card for Beate's sketch. I used a retiring set AND what I expect is retiring designer paper, since it has Purely Pomegranate in it. So, I have a Pretty in Pink base with a front from Berry Bliss paper. I have a rectangle of Close to Cocoa with Pink brads, and a rectangle of Pretty in Pink card stock with Cocoa buttons! Then the main image comes from Sweet Thing and is stamped in Pretty in Pink, matted on Cocoa and edged in Pink.

The second card comes from Jen's Saturday Sketch. The colors come from kwerner's color challenge #11, even tho I missed her deadline. I used Old Olive for the base, with a Whisper White card front. The side rectangles are So Saffron and Going Gray. On the Saffron card stock I stamped the mushroom in Saffron ink. I added some Old Olive wide ribbon across the bottom there, and I cut the end much different than I normally do! LOL! For the center panel I matted it on Rose Red and stamped the words in Rose Red, and added some Saffron daisies. Then for the circle image I cut out this little squatty frog, who I colored with Blender Pens and Watercolor Wonder Crayons. I'm happily surprised with how this turned out! If you like these sets, call me soon!

A Mojo Monday!

Here's my card for Julee's Mojo Monday! its not totally, exactly the sketch, but its pretty close.

I used the White Naturals card stock, instead of Whisper White this time, and that is my base. Then a card front of Basic Black. On that is a layer of Pretty in Pink stamped with my words from Sweet Thing, and the heart is stamped in Black ink on the same Naturals card stock. I added some Pretty in Pink ribbon from an old Ribbon Originals set called Flirty, and three Pink brads.

Be Inspired Challenge #15!

After a nice, long Memorial Day weekend I was very happy to be back to stamping! Which means I was also excited to play with Beate's inspiration piece! I needed a nice, masculine card since its also my husband's birthday. (Love you Honey! We got to go on a date too! A nice quiet lunch to ourselves and a very late movie- Prince Caspian!) Anyway...the card...I took the masculine-looking colors and created something TOTALLY different for me! Wow!
I started by playing with this tool:
Anyone know what it is? I sure don't! Something from Making Memories, obviously. My friend was cleaning out her craft room and has never had any luck using this so she gave it to me to try. Not having any idea how its supposed to work, it was kind of a pain! But! I have a circle cutter now! I thought I'd go with these oval cards I saw here ...but that didn't quite work. I got a huge circle from my Blue Bayou card stock! So, I cut the circle in half...(ish...) and got this. I mounted it on a piece of More Mustard card stock. I added a rectangle of Soft Sky thinking for the greeting and the writing...but then it would show oddly... So I stamped this on the inside:
and wrote my own message on the inside of the Bayou half circle! Then I added the Close to Cocoa tab from my super cool Round Tab Punch, and attached it with Silver Brads. The front of the Bayou piece I stamped weirdly with the bottom of one of the Boho Background stamps. The "love you" on the Cocoa comes from the stamp set Sweet Thing. All the ink is Basic Black. Happy Birthday Burt!

More wedding cards!

Here are two more wedding cards. I made these the other night. We have truly, 5 wedding announcements sitting here! Some of them get "old" cards and some get brand new! Here are the new ones.... This was really kind of hard because I don't have "wedding" sets in my house! So here I used Daisy Crazy for the main image. That is stamped on White card stock with Certainly Celery, So Saffron, Rose Red and Elegant Eggplant. Then its matted on Chocolate Chip to tie in the lovely Chocolate Chip taffeta ribbon. I even used a Ribbon Slide from the new Hodgepodge Hardware in the mini! Then the card base is Rose Red. I stamped the greeting in Chocolate Chip ink and I used the 2-Way glue pen to adhere the Dazzling Diamonds glitter! Not incredibly "WEDDING-y" but it works for the couple. This one seems more like a wedding card. I used a Groovy Guava base, Chocolate Chip card stock for the mats, punched the squares out with the 1 3/8 inch square punch, made my own tag (which is why its un-even...). The hearts are stamped with Guava and Real Red ink. The greeting is stamped in Real Red and the edge is sponged in Guava. I tied a little bow with the same Chocolate taffeta ribbon, and now everyone knows why I don't do bows! ha ha!

Weekend Sketch Challenge #38!

It was 41 degrees and sunny outside when Hunter came home from school, so we played at the playground for a while! Poor Sienna hasn't been out in far too long. That was still a bit chilly for me, and Sienna asked for hot chocolate when we came in...but maybe, just MAYBE spring will come soon! Here is my card for Beate's weekend sketch. I'm sorry the picture is so dark, I kept trying, I've got the window open, I even tried to add light in my editing program like I often do, but that made the colors really weird, and very bad. So this is what I have... I used a Certainly Celery base and the Prints Paper in Certainly Celery and Almost Amethyst, plus a pop of Pretty In Pink for a nice little baby girl card. I also have it opening on the side for a change! Its hard to see, but I used the circle stamp from the Sweet Thing set to add a scallop-y edge on the side of the pink rectangle. I like that little addition! I used some Amethyst ribbon from the Fairy Tale Ribbon set, and a pink brad. Today's sketch worked a lot better for me! :)

Weekend Sketch Challenge #36!

Two posts in one day...! I should have started using challenges and sketches a long time ago! I think my cards are looking a lot nicer nowadays! I know there's always that evolution as you learn new things and trends change but still! Here's my card using Beate's sketch:

Just as I was finishing gluing it all down, my little boy came up with what he'd been building with Lego's and asked if I liked his newest creation. Of course I did, and I told him so, then I asked what he thought of my newest creation. Keep in mind this boy loves to stamp... he looked it over and finally said "Well, its fine, but its not a creation Mom." Whatever! It is totally a creation! And I'm very happy with it!

I used Sage Shadow as my base, then white layered onto Chocolate Chip cardstock. I used Rose Red for the flower to pop, and I really like how that worked out. I sponged Sage on the edges of the sentiment (which is one of my favorites!) and used some Chocolate Chip Taffeta ribbon, another favorite!
