Silly Old Bear...

...is my selection for the Paper Players "bear" challenge. altho it is not very CAS... hmm.
I also used the sketch from Hand Stamped Sentiments...as a starting point... ahem. That oval shaped image kind of threw it off a little.
Look, ha, I made a card. It didn't fit the challenges as well as I'd usually aim for, but I made something.

My new item is the embossing folder. I wasn't going to get that and I didn't when I ordered the stamps, DP and some new colors... buuut then I did. lol. I added some ink to the folder before running it thru, and I'm pretty sure I did it backwards, but I really like how the inked embossing turned out!
Supplies:
Stamps: Sweet Old Friends, Sending You Thoughts
Ink: Hydrangea Hue, Golden Glow
Paper: Very Vanilla & Golden Glow card stock, Silly Old Bear DP
Accessories: Hundred Acre Wood embossing folder, Circle dies, Dimensionals, Big Shot

Well that's me fitting in two crafty times in the same week, snort, and I shared it in the same week too!
I hope this weekend is crisp and happy!

Sunflowers and Braces

Happy Monday! How was your weekend? All I really know is I was so excited to finally scrap something new! I got to play with new products and newly printed photos and I got some creative time! All wins!
The DP arrived last week, the rest is long-retired stash, ha.

The colors were a journey. They are partly because of her clothes and partly because of a color challenge I was playing with to use fall colors- at least one of burgundy, burnt orange, deep yellow, chestnut, mossy green or plum. I got a burnt orange, deep yellow, and chestnut kinds of shades in there.
Initially I matched her shirt to the red shades and decided it was Riding Hood Red. But I don't own that ink pad and I wanted to stamp the flowers...so I switched to Cherry Cobbler. Then I read the challenge and threw that shade out entirely, ha. I don't know that it works *so well with the Cajun Craze but the images work annnd I just went for it anyway. It's fine.
Supplies:
Stamps: Cheerful Daisies, Capture the Good, Snuggles & Smooches
Ink: Cherry Cobbler, Pecan Pie, Bumblebee
Paper: Bumblebee, Basic White cardstock, Sunflower Fields DP
Accessories: Neutral Candy Dots (Chocolate Chip), Cheerful Daisies Dies, Dimensionals, Big Shot

I'll add the journaling another time. But I will add this commentary- she wants braces, but not today. Just later, when she's older. Like when she's an awkward teenager would be better. haha! You get braces when you need them, and awkward tweens are fine.

A Harry Potter Party

My kiddo is half-obsessed with Harry Potter, ha. She has read the first book and listens to it on repeat, almost nightly. She has gotten to about half way thru the second book...and is apprehensive that it gets scarier and creepier...
We did go to Universal Hollywood in March, and we all loved their Hogsmeade. Some of us only enjoyed one ride (ME. It's ME), but the area was really cool.
Aaannyway, this kiddo has a birthday this month, so a friend-party was in order.
This will definitely be scrapbooked, but in the meantime, here's something we made, thanks to the smart people on the internets, ha!

Decor:
Clusters of potion jars and candles and who knows what, haha

The food:
Sugar cones set on Keebler Fudge Striped cookie, with mnm's inside- red, yellow, blue or green!
(and a smidge of chocolate frosting to hold it together)
Because of COURSE Professor Sprout grows finger grapes and pineapple in England!

(not quite... two assortment small bags of Jelly Belly, thanks. No ick.)
(these are red powder and crystals, so that was slightly disappointing)
We used this recipe for the butterbeer, and no cream.

Here I had to hide the name, but trust me that it totally worked. Also, she wanted it spelled correctly as it is in the book, AND she didn't want anyone to sit on it first, haha.

Activities:
Painting wands with black, brown or silver, on dowels I wrapped with hot glue and twine.
annnd then the wands were grounded to the table to avoid stabbing. Kids are rough.
A scavenger hunt.

Activities not shown:
Bludger Bludger Snitch (you might call it duck duck goose...)
Would You Rather

And her friends reciprocated the theme with gifts including the Flying Ford Anglia lego set, the Fawkes lego set, a Harry Potter craft kit, a chocolate elder wand and Bertie Botts Every Flavor Beans. Ew. haha!
